The vaccine did not work against the Delta (Indian) variant because it was produced to deal with the original strain of the Covid-19 virus which came from China. Therefore in my opinion it is unlikely to work against the Omnicron variant.

I heard today that the vaccines are in fact quite effective in reducing the effects of the Delta and Omicron variants in the individual. Obviously when you're dealing with individuals there will be some that get ill despite the vaccine but in the vast majority of individuals it has proven to be effective - or at least not ineffective.
I just had a Teams meeting which included a guy who tested positive today and who has to go into self isolation - double jabbed (not boosted yet) with no symptoms, seems to have worked for him. Which swings us round to the big con - case numbers. They continue to sell a positive test as a case even where the individual shows no symptoms.
