It?s an interesting point about coaching and the transition from senior player to coach. It?s not something we have seen much of previously from memory and certainly not under the current owners. Alan Smith was a standout who had played at the highest level and was a player and coach.

When a senior player +35 leaves the club it?s also the knowledge and experience and mentorship of the younger players in the squad that goes.

Jim O?Brien, Sam Slocombe and now Didzy are have left the building since the end of the 23/24 season.

Our most senior players age 30 and over are now Rod McDonald 33 followed by Curtis Edward?s 31 then Matt Palmer 30.

As I?ve said elsewhere it seems like a clearing of the decks to give the new head coach a rebuilt squad.

Perhaps the average age of the squad will come down next season and to have pace in the side it?s gong to have to come from younger players.

I love how many on here say where notts are going wrong, they should do this, they should do that, without knowing anything behind the scenes. It's OK to have an opinion and ideas but many talk like they know exactly what's happening and the owners have got this one wrong. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
What was Mcgoldricks actual wages? What did he want this time? What length of contract did he want?Did Notts offer him less money money or shorter terms? Did Mcgoldrick want to go into coaching yet or even at all if it was offered? Had he had a fallout or lack of faith in the way we are heading? Without knowing these answers we can only guess and not jump to any conclusion and certainly not have a good at the owners like I have seen on here in a few cases. What we do know is that it has freed up a decent amount of money for us to reinvest. No doubt Mcgoldrick will be a loss but if we get the next transfer window right, we will be in a stronger position again, just like every other start of season since the brothers took over. At 38 years old Notts have obviously looked at the facts in front of them and decided on a pathway that included Mcgoldrick or it didn't, depending on his demands. He's served us well for two seasons, he's been a pleasure to watch, and one thing that does seem highly likely from it all, is that last season was definitely a big chance of promotion missed. To me, that is what stands out most from all of this.

How do you know it's freed up a decent amount of money to re invest 🤔 they may or may not re invest it in the squad, a guess like everyone else.

Sorry to see Didzy go. But there are 2 sides to this. We have no idea what was offered, and perhaps Didzy wanted a change?
Who knows. The proof of the pudding and whether it was a you?d move for either or both sides will be in what follows.
When he left the sheep they?re fans weee up in arms that they didn?t keep him, and went straight on to promotion?..
Like replacing managers, it?s rarely the losing/sacking that?s wrong, only what you replace them with.

I'd like to think he'd get a (well deserved) standing ovation before having a stinker.

I doubt he'll play. He'll be injured. 6k for a 38 year old is batshiz crazy at our level. God i hope MCDongs get relegated.
