    Next Season

So regardless of if we go up or not, what’s peoples thoughts on what we need to do to progress as a club whether it’s another (so called promotion push) into the Football League or if we go up to retain Football league status? Ive lifted part of PTID1862‘s excellent post from the Dover thread so we can see contract status.

The first thing I’ll say is the only way I’d keep Burchnall is if we do get up through the playoffs otherwise the sooner he’s gone the better for me.

    Slocombe June 2023
Brooks June 2022 - not sure

    DKE June 2022 - release
    Brindley June 2022 - keep
    Taylor June 2023
    Chicksen June 2022 - Release
    Lacey June 2022 - Release
    Rawlinson June 2023
    Cameron June 2023

    Francis June 2023 - Release
    JOB June 2023
    Palmer June 2023
    Vincent June 2023

    Nemane June 2023 - Release
    Rodrigues June 2023
    Roberts June 2023
    Mitchell June 2023 - Release
    Wootten June 2022 - he’s gone
    Sam June 2022 - keep
    Knight June 2023 - Release

What really worries me is who we get in player wise , imo the recruitment this season has been poor and emphasis has to be on getting a proven replacement for Wottons 20+ goals, plus another proven alternative especially if one of Roberts or Rodrgues goes too.

I wouldn't mind if Burchnall left tonight nevermind at the end of the season, but who would we get into replace him? I have a bad feeling that even if Burchnall goes, the brothers will just appoint another manager with little to know national league experience. And even if they do appoint a decent manager, whose to say they wont restraint him with their blinkered philosophy that obviously does not work.

In terms of players, I'd keep:

    Slocombe
    Brindley
    Cameron
Brooks (to go out on another loan spell)
    Palmer
    Sam
    Vincent

Obviously I'd also rather keep Roberts, Rodrigues and Wootton but I can't see any reason why they'd stay, especially if Burchnall was still in charge.

The rest, under contract or not can go.

I'd release the lot bar Cameron, Rodders, Roberts, Brindley, Palmer, Vincent & Knight

There’s no chance rodders, cal will stay around should an offer come in..
As above Wootton is gone already..
Not sure mr consistent(palmer) will hang around.
    Think Eli may stay.
Might have no option but to keep kairo.
    Think rawlo will hang around.
    Cameron may move on…
    Brindley would keep
The rest is just dead wood
In a nutshell not good enough

Its simple really what we need to do next season
We need to win considerably more than half our league games. Do that and we my go up. Dont achieve that and we wont. We have won just 21 games in 41 this season. Thats just not good enough

We need players who are prepared to win their battles, and not just a bunch of fancy dans. I would off load Nemane (crap) Mitchell (crap) Francis, Taylor (inconsistent) Rawlinson (makes too many errors) . As for the rest, if they want away then get rid. Burchnall has had his chance, get rid....

What worries me is what we bring in, we need proven players at this level (especially the replacement for Wotton) no more lucky dips.

It's going to be an interesting summer of ins & outs irrespective of which division we're in (probably this one if I'm honest)

The squad and IB are not right for this league, need grit as well as technique. You have to earn the right to play then win.
