The Garage? Wow, Sandpipers, I spent a lot of time in there in my misspent youth. I remember being in there once ( pretty sure it was 1980 ) and a full-scale riot broke out with a bunch of skinheads which then spilt out onto Broadway. There were 2 coppers with their truncheons out ( yeah yeah ) trying to restore order before the meat wagons arrived and carted everyone off. Not much of a music venue but when I was 'home',I spent a lot of time in The Hippo which was on Bridlesmith Gate.

Yea the sandpipers, remembered it last night in bed. 77 I modelled myself on Sid Vicious, black spikey hair, padlock chain and a red t shirt with swastika (I know, it wasn't about being a Nazi or anything right wing, just a way to pisoff the establishment) summer of 78 gave way to a different look, I remember walking across the market square on a Saturday night, turquoise blue Hawaiian shirt mustard yellow chinos navy deck shoes and white sunglasses, my girlfriend had a flowery cotton dress with black leggings and high heel sandals also white sunglasses, that look caught on mainstream the following year, happy days.

Papa would be the only character that I would be scared of it I met them all and I'm surprised that Barbara from Babs Cabs hasn't come in for some criticism from certain sections,TLOG is still available on BBC iPlayer so I will get my fix this weekend before it gets removed

League of Gentleman was great, as is Inside No 9. I’m all for bringing down statues of slavers etc, not sure how I feel about cultural obliteration. But then again, I’m not a transgender taxi driver from a small town up north.

So, you're not from 'up north' then.

Looks like the episode in Fawlty Towers 'Don't mention the War' is next for the chop. Apparently racist towards Germans.
Allo Allo has got no chance then?

There will be a time soon when we will be too scared to push the envelope in comedy and go back to the safe sanitised world of the family variety shows of the past but not with mother in law jokes obviously as it's offensive towards your wife's mother

Gone with the Wind has now lived up to its title.
This is becoming an absolute revisionist madness and puts me in mind of that classic phrase that adorns US 'bathrooms' - 'sanitised for YOUR PROTECTION'.

Apparently it’s not for the German thing. It’s supposedly for some unfortunate references to black people by the Major. These were edited in 2013, but some places are still playing the unedited version.
