That's what I said, if you are talking about "most unexpected achievement" Raducanu is definitely right up there. I'm only a casual follower of tennis, but I know that US Open was a very moderate tournament. She could only beat what was put in front of her, but "greatest achievement ever"? Wade and Murray both won the US Open and also Wimbledon. Do you think Raducanu will emulate them? She's young enough to improve a lot so it's possible, but in my opinion she first needs to become a tennis player again rather than a 'celebrity'.

I will disagree with very moderate tournament, I haven't checked but the world's top 10 in the women's game were heavily represented. Emma was 150th, so on rankings a rank outsider and underdog. Anyone who wins any grand slam can only beat who is put in front of them. Plus you don't get lucky at a Grand Slam when you win. The way she performed in the final she could easily have beaten any of the Top 10 it was a superb display of accurate power hitting from the ****ager.

You are now drifting into another area trying to compare careers of a retired and near retired player with a 19 year old. That's not a fair comparison.
And asking what the future will or won't hold for the US Open champion.

She won it at 18, Andy and Virginia didn't they had to wait 7 and 5 years I believe.

As I've mentioned before it is just my opinion that's all. I believe it's the single greatest British sporting achievement for the reasons given previously.

She created history, first ever tennis player man or woman to go through and win the US Open or any of the 4 grand slams.

Forget the fact she was only 18 and waiting on her A level results, in her very first year on the tour, ranked 150th in the world at the time and over 300th at the start of the year, and won it without dropping a single set. You can't get more impressive in tennis.

She's a history maker at world level, nobody can change it, it's in da books. That obviously takes nothing away from Sir Steve Redgrave or Sir Chris Hoy

To conclude this sporting discussion, in your opinion what is the greatest single sporting achievement by a British individual? Not career just a single event, single achievement?

I won't judge, try and mock or call it laughable it's just someone else's opinion that's all
