I have seen what abuse can do to people first hand, a family member committed suicide due to being abused as a child, with us only finding out after his death, the abuser was allowed to live his life without any prosecution and died without punishment, some people knew what he had done and remained silent, they were enablers, folk telling others to not speak about this are the very same, I am not brave for starting this thread, but the guys who finally found the courage to come forward after all these years are, they have opened a massive can of worms which is making a lot of people very very uncomfortable and that is just great.

I hope every single one of the abusers are named, shamed and jailed if still alive, and every club that has covered these disgusting vile crimes up must receive the severest sanctions that these crimes deserve.

You should start by naming and shaming the "many others" at Celtic that you claim are/were pedophiles. Don't be an enabler - out them immediately to the authorities.

OK I may have doubted your sincerity in your motivation for posting on such a serious and important subject. But honestly what reaction did you think you would get. You know this board as well as anyone and how things pan out no matter the subject. Given that why make such a post of huge gravitas knowing full well it would descend into a rammy ? As you point out it is a massive issue but it was never going to get any real serious impute and I'm not for one minute saying the folk on here are incapable of discussing such matters... they are but not on this particular forum. Time and time again this has been proved, So back to the reason for your OP. You either did it deliberately or you're extremely naive. There are many other outlets online to debate this subject may I suggest you go on there it would be far more appropriate.

As I have said previously, if anyone uses the subject as point scoring ban them forever, all ed has to do is police this thread and chop the unsuitable posts and ban the posters, those who I have put on ignore are all over this thread and I will guarantee its Rolf this and Rolf that, if it upsets folk then either stay off the thread or use the ignore function.

You should note that the first person to raise the celtc issue was a celtc fan who chose to go on the attack at those he claims should be jailed for mocking his club, he had no words for the victims or those who enabled the abuse within celtc park, perhaps you should aim some of your disgust in his direction.

I started the thread to generate debate as I truly believe this subject should be spoke about openly as we can, personal experience tells me the more we ignore it the worse it gets and the victims keep blaming themselves until its too late.

I want to know what people think would be appropriate punishment for clubs that have covered up child abuse to keep their names "clean" and out of the press, we already know Chelsea and Crewe have done so and there will be more, there is also the celtc issue that has never really been addressed, like an ashamed family Scottish football has never laid to rest the ghosts of those at celtc park that carried out the acts, those that protected them and those that brought them back in to the club when it was evident of what they were doing, we have to accept that it was wrong and those that ran celtc at the time should be brought to task for their actions, should the club suffer or the individuals that enabled the abusers?

I am talking about this on other forums and people are very supportive of the investigations and helping the victims, why should it be any different on here?

The investigations are all over the news nationwide and for you to say we shouldn't talk about it on here is preposterous, try telling that to a mother who has laid her son to rest because no one spoke of his abuse, or to the victims who have finally found the courage to come forward.

The bold part of that post looks potentially libellous to me, RMDU.

From a personal point of view, I don't think you can really punish the clubs themselves, more the individuals involved (in both the ***ual abuse & the covering up of it). I mean, what would you do if the Chelsea case (paying a victim off to keep his trap shut decades ago) turns out to be true, do you ban them from having a youth set up, dock them 30 points, relegate them to non-league Football or ban the club all together? I don't see how you can do any of these things to be honest.

I don't know how it can be libelous when the abusers are already known and have been in the papers.

I agree it would be difficult to punish the clubs, however the Penn State case in the US showed it can be done and if it is the club who is guilty of the cover up then it must be that which is punished, it can't be allowed to walk away Scot free.

I'm out of this thread absolutely no good will come out of it. Good luck as it descends into whataboutery and accusations I'm sure that will address the issues in a mature way.

Who at Crewe Alexandra has been found guilty of covering up child abuse?

I have to say you're on shaky ground there & with some of your Celtic accusations.

The whole point of Wolph's thread was to have a go at Celtic, it doesn't take a genius to work this out.

How many posters does he have on ignore now, 6 was it?

It won't be long til he's posting to himself like mad Wab
