IMO its a personal thing. I throw what I have into Poppy Appeal collecting jars as a thank-you to those who've look after my welfare in ways I wouldn't dare. As it happens I DON'T wear a poppy because I don't wear any signs of allegiance apart from a set of DCFC cufflinks, but anyone who risks life (a close relative of mine did) and limb for my sake gets my vote
