On the subject of past skilled midfielders, in today's LT is an Howard Gayle article where he cites Gordon Cowans has the jewel in the crown of Don McKay. He goes on about how money was so tight and the pitch surface was well - awful. But Cowans seemed totally untroubled and 'conducted events' just like the top pro he was.
He was a joy to watch, and how the hell did we manage secure that? Repeated by Tugs introduction later on.
With those thoughts, I just wonder if we are not being a little well - greedy

I suppose nothing should surprise us, but can that really be right? When you think what they've already committed, penny-pinching on one player's salary seems particularly weird.
Anyway, on the wider topic, it can't really be good for the existing players' morale to hear the Club's looking for yet another centre-back.
Perhaps it's all a cover, to hide the fact that Coyle is really negotiating for a ten-million pound play-maker.
