Surely this is Milne starting to sh!t himself as he appears to be in a corner.
It could be that he is starting to panic, but he could also be applying pressure.
Got to admit the odds seem stacked against the application being successful.

Dave Cormack made a statement about the new stadium and related to growing a club in America via building a new stadium.
Would he stick around if the plans fell through?

Aberdeen FC chairman Stewart Milne has warned the club faces playing European games in Glasgow or Edinburgh in future.

He was talking at a campaign launch to support a new stadium to replace Pittodrie, which he said will soon not meet the criteria to host Uefa games.

The £50m stadium and training facilities would be at Kingsford, close to the Aberdeen bypass, near Westhill.

However, objectors have called for the club to look elsewhere.

A decision is due to be taken by councillors in October. A pre-determination hearing will take place on 13 September at Aberdeen Town House.

The new campaign - called Aurora - is being spearheaded by former Aberdeen manager Sir Alex Ferguson. ****Fit the f*ck? Since when?!

    'Other options'

Mr Milne, speaking at the launch, said of the forthcoming new stadium ruling: "The consequences of a negative decision on this will have massive bearings on the future of this club.

"At some point we will no longer get dispensation to play European games here.

"Other options are to play in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

"What sort of statement would that send out? What would our fans think?"

John Thornton, of the No Kingsford Stadium group, said: "Obviously the decision is up to the council, if they act according to planning law they will reject this application.

"There is no economic benefit for Westhill.

"There are other sites they can look at and they can still redevelop Pittodrie."

Objectors say concerns include traffic and parking issues.
Bull****. Stadium in Almaty or Rijeka was fit for purpose more than Pittodrie? Build whatever you want and where you want. You'lldo it anywhere, but don't talk drivel about playing euro games 100 miles from home.

    A couple of things here:-
What about the South Stand which I understand has subsidence?
How long does the Merkland have?

I presume you'd advocate the training and AFCCT being elsewhere.
Hospitality is also restricted to the DD and main stand, so we'd face a drop in revenue at least until a new stand is in place.

Surprised the pitch is still in view with the amount of years the SS has been subsiding. Give it a rest

My personal option is that we redevelop Pittodrie, and I dont agree with the crap he is coming out with.
As most have said in the past, whats wrong with having our training facilities and stadium in two different areas? The only one I can think of that has them next to one another is St Johnstone. It's hardly a great stadium and a pain in the ar5e when looking for a pint before hand.

    Anyway, just my tuppence worth.
I don't know all the ins and outs of why Pittodrie won't be good enough for European games (Im sure Keith Wyness said the same thing 15 years ago) but I would say that Pittodrie is still in a better shape than some of the stadiums we have played in Europe the last few years.

The earlier qualifying rounds are not a problem
UEFA stadium categories are categories for football stadiums laid out in the UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations.[1] Using these regulations, stadiums are rated as category one, two, three, or four (renamed from elite) in ascending ranking order. These categories replaced the previous method of ranking stadiums on one to five star scale in 2006. A stadium must be category four to host games in the playoffs of the qualifying stage for the UEFA Champions League or any game in the main competition.[2] Category four is also required to host any game in the main competition of the UEFA Europa League[3] or the UEFA European Football Championship.[4]
We are currently category 4, but not sure if affected by the main stand.

So Milne (and Wyness back then) are not scaremongering of the possibility of having to play elsewhere if we progress

We never get past the qualifiers anyway so it won't affect us

It's been said you get better value abroad (labour costs etc) so remember the difference in budget.
I also see their corners are not fully filled in as some are demanding.
But it looks like a fitba ground, unlike whats being put in front of us. Thats the issue. Nae the price. Again back to the Swissproarena. 60m Euros, good on the eye, traps the atmosphere, its a bowl, It doesnt look like it was designed on a fag packet. That 60m euros included a training bit, hotel and offices.so a good stadium is possible on a budget that we have.

Yes they are. Absolutely scaremongering. Won't happen.
