On Palaces BT
How many folk live in the Winter Palace in St Petersburg???
China's Summer Palace complex in Beijing, which covers an area of 720,000 square meters (178 acres). The 980 buildings of the Forbidden City have a combined floor space of 1,614,600 square feet (150,001 m2) and contain roughly 9,000 rooms.
How many Homeless live there?
The "world's largest palace by floor space" is the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania, which was built by communist dictator Nicolae Ceaúsescu in 1986.It is also the most expensive administrative building and heaviest building.
The "world's largest palace by volume" is the Royal Palace of Caserta in Caserta, Italy, with more than 2 million cubic meters (70 million cubic feet).
The title of "world's largest royal domain," as measured by the total area of the property, goes to the Palace of Versailles in France. Versailles's grounds cover 87,728,720 square feet (8,150,265 m2), or 2,014 acres, including 230 acres of gardens. The palace itself contains 721,206 square feet (67,002 m2) of floorspace.[5]
The Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, with 1000 rooms on 13 levels, and over 130,000 square meters of floor space,[6] is one of the largest palaces in the world by floor area. It was the winter residence of the Dalai Lama until 1959. (Many sources, e.g.[7] give the area as 360,000 square meters.)
In the castle category, Prague Castle claims to be world's largest. However, despite the singular name, Prague Castle is not a single building. Like the Forbidden City, it comprises a number of palaces, temples, and halls (constructed over several centuries) that share a common defensive wall. Altogether, the complex covers 18 acres, leading to the self-appointed title of "Largest coherent castle complex in the world."
Now none of these belong to a Royal Family BT and many are in supposedly socialist countries
Yet more rubbish on our Royals too. Never let the facts get in the way of an argument
Now the £12.5M is a Top PL players salary.
Occupied Royal Palaces, such as Buckingham Palace, are not the private property of The Queen. They are occupied by the Sovereign and held in trust by Crown Estates for future generations. The Queen privately owns two properties, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House, which are not publicly funded.
Prince Charles owns one - Birkhall
Anyway what’s Poppy money doing here? It goes to the British Legion.

I thought this thread was about one of our Royals Marrying ?
I have enjoyed everyone's contributions, but IMO a few of the posts have gone awal with talk about life in foreign Countries and other Royal Palace's in different countries.
Just like the love I have for Burnley FC, I have no interest in what is happening with Spurs, West Brom or bastids, I care only and want the best for BFC, and its the same with my/our Country, its haemorrhaging money left right and centre, yet this particular marriage is good news for all our troubles.
The bottom line is, the Queen is rich in her own right regardless of her not owning the jewels or her Palace's, Prince Charles is also not far behind with his brothers and sister also sitting on gold mines.
Prince Andrew not so long ago booked a helicopter to visit someone, its cost £51,000, when it would have only taken an hour by car, one of his Daughters took 11 holidays abroad in one year, who the hell paid for that the silver fairy ?
Like I have said on another thread, This Country is in Dire Straits and gullible folk are P!ssing their knickers in happiness about this Wedding.
My guess is some folk are all too keen to critique Britain, whenever it is perceived to be morally incorrect or unjust and turn a blind eye to the hypocrisies that occur all round the globe be it a rich or be it a so called poor country.
What I don't like is opportunists that use such occasions as an opportunity to slag this Great Nation off.
Rule Britannia
Oh and I worked with Fred West son and new the West's daughter
Our handsome prince (ex-military veteran) marries third rate American soap actress and the usual media scrum ensues.
82 year old military veteran dies outside in the cold after being evicted from a slum sleepover site in Manchester http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...2-dies-6851677 and who actually gives a flying fig?
You are absolutely correct sinkov, some people are just born to be better off than others, those of us less well off really should get off our arses and do something about it.
Now, how do I go about getting a mortgage to buy something on the lines of Balmoral Castle or Sandringham House, which are of course not publicly funded?
Alto
Guilty as charged. Those who don’t want a Royal Family need to see what the idealist alternative world they propose can lead too. I can only do that by showing real examples and rebutt the bilious falsehoods that flow so easily into a blog.
The Royals play an important part in our democracy, by preventing any Prime Minister becoming presidential as Blair was trying. They protect our assets for the future and stop them being grabbed by individuals.
They are not all my favourite people, but Harry’s mother was a commoner and he has done a lot to improve people’s lives. He is marrying another commoner. Good luck to them.
82 year olds are likely to die fairly soon. He must have been a pleasant chap to get evicted. Most men of that age are military veterans. Are you really trying to use this as a way of promoting insurrection? In your ideal world there are oligarchs and plebs. The oligarchs have more money than the Royal Family and are far more numerous. The pleas are downtrodden and get evicted if they can’t pay the rent - it’s not rent free unlike here. Go look at St Petersburg before you post such rubbish. Putin has his dacha there which is also a Palace.
I believe in social justice and further believe we need to start redressing the global gross imbalance of wealth.
The British Royal Family epitomise to me everything that is wrong with post war Britain.
I would close this outdated privileged nonsense down in a heartbeat.
I don't personally know if our dead veteran was a pleasant chap or not. He was evicted apparently for sleeping rough and having the temerity to shelter from the cold in disused private property.
Meanwhile, our dashing young Prince is reportedly looking to blow £8 million quid on a rather stately marital home for him and his new bride in the Cotswolds.
I always though us stoic British Bulldogs believed in fair play?
I guess not.![]()
