    Falkirk 1298 wisna clever.

Possible arrogance from the first leg at Stirling Bridge a year earlier, and a lack of preparation saw the Scots falter in the face of England’s favoured cavalry charge and longbow tactics. The Scots rarely ventured beyond their own half, and the defeat culminated in the resignation of 1297’s victorious manager William Wallace, turned on by the venomous quills of the scrollmen.

In my lifetime it's 5-0 v England in approx '73. Missed it by a goal tonight.

Nice post. **** result but cracking bounce when we took out a few riders with our long spears. Downhill after that.

It was a Dumbarton lad that turned over William Wallace to the English. Although the same gadgie also signed the declaration of Arbroath

February 73. The centenary of the SFA celebrated by inviting England to Hampden. Hosed doon with rain. Bobby Clark in goal behind a shocking defence, but it was Clark who was made the scapegoat.
