[QUOTE=RhubarbPie;39050270]The horses don't even know what's on the other side of those fences they're forced to jump.

Usually it is the same as the side where they started to jump---grass

It's absolutely barbaric and totally shameful.

We need to stop this horrific excuse to gamble right now.

What will it be next, Elsie? Bring back gladiator fights? You probably think bull fighting is an entirely respectable pastime, as well, don't you?
My daughter keeps horses , she as lost some in the past to broken limbs, colic etc. none of those were racehorses though.

I don't know. You posted the link so you tell me.

Again, rubbish. It's the only humane option when a horse has a broken leg.

Try actually reading what's been written before posting utterly stupid questions like that. I've already said I'm against 'sports' where the aim is to kill or injure an animal.

Just done a quick search and it seems there are 21 trainers based in the Malton area, including a few big yards:

He is only on here for a wind up EP, nothing to offer regarding football.

Oh, but those 'sports' where animals are maimed and killed as a side effect are ok in your book?

    Sad.

As long as every effort is made to minimise it and the alternative is worse, then yes.

Wow - I've always known deaths in racing occur but had no idea of the scale of it. Very sad. I presume the horse racing community are actively working to tackle this? If not, they really should be.

Sadly, some on here don't see it as a significant problem,

14 horses maimed and subsequently destroyed this month, alone.

And Elsie is ok with that ...

    Sad.
