I meant the ERM not the DRM!
To state the obvious, the UK has influence over the EU to the extent that the various treaties that govern the relationship between them allows for.
Brexiteers who talk about 'taking back control' are clearly unhappy with the limits to our current influence. The extent of any individual country's influence is set to reduce as the organisation moves towards a more Federalist arrangement. That is an issue that people overlook when they talk about Brexit in purely economic terms.
Without any identity consideration I actually agree with that post
We tried to join the Common Market on better terms in the early 60s.
When we joined in 1973 it was on worse terms.
This WA thing is worse still.
We don't know but the Lisbon Treaty which was ratified in 2009 paves the way for it.
Interesting article and opinion of Martin Schulz. But please explain how the opinion of one guy constitutes a shift to a Federal Europe? There are other opinions too. Why not post those?
Even if one country pushes for this it still needs to pass through the EU Council and Parliament and be ratified by 27 other countries.
