Dudley Sports!? Wash your mouth out Mick!
There was a time when confusing Dudley Sports with Dudley Town was akin to confusing FC United with Manchester United.
Sadly things are a lot different nowadays, ever since our Sports Centre stadium in Dudley was closed in 1985 the club has endured hardship after hardship. We had the biggest non league stadium in the UK but due to limestone caverns beneath Dudley the Cricket ground next door suffered a collapse and long story short, that was that, both grounds were closed.
Yes you’re correct, we’ve just lost Dean Whitehouse to Lye Town, he’s took all his staff with him aswell, I suppose we’ll have to see what players he takes now. We have a side with an average age of nineteen who play some cracking stuff, it’s Deans trademark to play attractive football but we’ll have to see now. I rated Dean Whitehouse, bloody good manager, shame he’s gone. We’ve now appointed Matty Lovett from Sikh Hunters, he won a pot last year and arrives with a young and hungry reputation so I’m keen to see how he gets on.
No I don’t know him, to tell you the truth I used to know non league inside out at one time but I’m having to play catch up now.
I see Gary Hackett stepped down at Stourbridge, you’ve appointed the Alvechurch gaffer haven’t you who knocked you out the play offs? Hope it hurts Alvechurch, they’ve got half of Dudley’s floodlights from the Sports Centre, they’ve only got four towers, Dudley had eight, that’s how good a set up we had previously.
(Yes I know the name Tony Gore, done the rounds hasn’t he, I think he may have been at DTFC some years back)
