Sacked before Xmas, poor choice, we need a young up and coming manager who will build a young exciting team, even if it takes a couple of seasons, Albion board are obsessed with gaining promotion before the parachute money runs out, not with this eccentric buffoon in charge.

I agree Salt, it doesn’t appear to happen so much with others and that’s what fuels our anger as supporters. However, it’s been our way for a long time, some would argue it’s kept us safely in the black whilst others would like us to ‘twist’ more often, there are arguments fore and against. Jenkins upon his return took a swipe at the frivolous spending of messrs Williams and co then followed it up by recommending we go back to the previous business model employed by Peace. This being the same model that took us forever to get signings like Hoult, Greagan, Moore and Appleton over the line, to name but a few. Some of our managerial appointments followed in the same vein too, which is why, like you, I’m concerned all over again. Irvine, Clarke and even Megson made me fume, until we saw what Megson did of course. I think with Dan Ashworth his specialty was he could source players for very little outlay. I may be wrong here but from my memory didn’t we sign Mulumbu and Odemwingie through Ashworth for very little? I’m sure there were a few iffy ones aswell but generally he didn’t oversee big buys as I recall (maybe Shane Long), again, all tying in with the Peace business model.

Alas, it now appears that due to Tony Pulis being allowed to spend most of our nest egg we have to start all over again so I expect these slow tedious dealings to once again become the norm. Our only other option is a multi billionaire owner, but more of the free spending variety not the one we have now. We might aswell be owned by Patel’s Fags and Mags corner shop such is the lack of investment from Lai.

Anyway, I’m not really telling you anything you didn’t already know, other than I just dont see any other avenues right now so I think we’d better get used to it. My main concern is how many of our fan base can be arsed to go through it all again? Personally I’ve already returned to watching my old non league team when the Albion are away, I’ve just renewed my Albion season ticket for season No.30 but if this load of cr ap keeps going on i’ll be switching to non league full time and picking my matches up the Albion.

Not Dudley Sports under the “sage” leadership of Tony “Sweeney” Gore then LOL?

He was the year below me at Hob Green and the Grange Minn.......something of a “rough diamond” let’s generously say :-))

I think you’ve just lost your manager to Lye Town haven’t you?

On a side note,is the big electrician guy ( Colin I think from CPR Electrics still involved with the club?

Great lad.....did a lot of work for me in the past.

    Unhappy

Dudley Sports!? Wash your mouth out Mick!

There was a time when confusing Dudley Sports with Dudley Town was akin to confusing FC United with Manchester United.
Sadly things are a lot different nowadays, ever since our Sports Centre stadium in Dudley was closed in 1985 the club has endured hardship after hardship. We had the biggest non league stadium in the UK but due to limestone caverns beneath Dudley the Cricket ground next door suffered a collapse and long story short, that was that, both grounds were closed.

Yes you’re correct, we’ve just lost Dean Whitehouse to Lye Town, he’s took all his staff with him aswell, I suppose we’ll have to see what players he takes now. We have a side with an average age of nineteen who play some cracking stuff, it’s Deans trademark to play attractive football but we’ll have to see now. I rated Dean Whitehouse, bloody good manager, shame he’s gone. We’ve now appointed Matty Lovett from Sikh Hunters, he won a pot last year and arrives with a young and hungry reputation so I’m keen to see how he gets on.

No I don’t know him, to tell you the truth I used to know non league inside out at one time but I’m having to play catch up now.

I see Gary Hackett stepped down at Stourbridge, you’ve appointed the Alvechurch gaffer haven’t you who knocked you out the play offs? Hope it hurts Alvechurch, they’ve got half of Dudley’s floodlights from the Sports Centre, they’ve only got four towers, Dudley had eight, that’s how good a set up we had previously.

(Yes I know the name Tony Gore, done the rounds hasn’t he, I think he may have been at DTFC some years back)

I remember watching Stour play at your old ground back in 84 just before the pit shaft opened.

    A cracking ground.

We had ex Wolves players Phil Parkes in goal and Willie Carr in midfield that night.

Me and a fellow Stour fan were stood down the side of the pitch discussing the impending transfer of Gary Stevens from Willenhall Town to Stour,a player I really rated.

My friend said to me....”I don’t want that useless little C nut at our place,he’s absolute s h I t”.

The bloke behind us in the crowd tapped my mate on the shoulder and said....

“ do me a favour mate,I’m not that bad” LOL.

Always wise to be careful before gobbing off at non league matches :-)

It was a cracking ground Mick, we were really going places, the lights had gone up in 79 we had just won the Southern Midland Division as Champions in 84/85, we had money, then crash, the bottom fell out of our world.

Funny story! I remember Gary Stevens, he got a fair few goals around that time, there was him, the Joinsons at Halesowen, Stan Jones at Stourbridge, Brian Beresford at Dudley, Gary Mathews at Willenhall, Kim Casey at Kidder all good goalscorers.

Here’s the last ever game played there, not that we knew at the time, it was a 2-0 win over Stourbridge in the white shirts.

Gary Mathews signed for Stour along with Gary Stevens and Phil Nichols when legendary Willenhall manager Graham Newton took over at Stour Minn.

Mathews scored the best goal I’ve seen in 45 years at Amblecote, what a striker he was.

Funny story about centra half Phil Nichols.

He was having a torrid night one midweek game and the experts down by the changing room end corner flag were giving him loads of abuse.

At full time I was heading down towards Stour lower High St just past the Chinky on the road outside the ground when I heard the strange sound of what could’ve been a tap dancer.

It was Nichols in full kit and still wearing his boots .........after the hand shakes he’d hurdled the rope at the edge of the pitch, sped across the car park and all the way down to almost the ring road.

He caught up with the abusive fan and pinned him by the neck to the Chinky’s window.

    Those were the days :-)

You certainly get it warts and all in non league, I’ve travelled on the Dudley coach as a lad and seen things no lad should see!
