The government declined to provide any evidence to the court upon the reason for proroguation. The court had to decide if it had jurisdiction in the matter and then whether the government had acted reasonably and rationally. In the absence of any evidence from the government, the court was entitled to draw its own conclusions.

The separation of powers does not give the court the right to question the reason a political decision was taken and should never ever have had the chance to do so. Political decisions do not belong in the hands of none political none elected people. These judges practice law not politics and are in no way attuned to political matters. That is the truth of it no matter what you say or think.

It is not anti democratic to give parliament what it wanted, it had been saying for months that a new queens speech was needed and that an Election was warranted and all Boris did was do what had been called for and suddenly because the people who had called for it decided that the time for an election was not politically good for them they had the law fight their battle for them.

Yes we know it is a fact but are the reasons given for the verdict fact or is it opinion or even did the judges rule with the intention of opening doors that were not there to open before.

Whoever wins the next GE will find out if the law is going to hinder political decisions or not but my guess is that from now on any laws made by any government will not only have to pass the house of commons and the house of lords but also the law too. A sad day for democracy.

The Supreme Court disagrees with you and the clue is in the word 'Supreme'.

Political decisions should be taken on reasonable and rational grounds if we are to have a functioning democracy.
