We have several members of our local party who are Brexiteers and we have had a few debates about Brexit. There is not one specific reason why they want Brexit but we chat about it in a respectful way without any hint of animosity.

I the Lib Dems all policy is voted on by the members at conferences. Whatever the members vote for becomes party policy. I recently voted against a couple of policy motions at conference and was on the losing side.

But we believe that political parties should state clearly what it's policies are - even if they are at variance with current public opinion.

If all parties created policies based solely on public opinion then they would all share a common manifesto.

So Brexiteers within the party are encouraged to voice their views and, at the end of the day, the party members will decide.

Seems like a very fair way to go about your business?

As a result of brexit many have left the party while still more new recruits have joined.
To be fair to your lot 59, they've always advocated a 2nd referendum and staying in the EU, this policy got them 2 million votes at the 2017 GE, Labour and Tories promised to respect the result of the referendum and got 24 million votes. I leave you to ponder that result and the wisdom of now advocating overturning the referendum result.

What happens if Boris by some miracle gets us out of the EU ? You've staked everything on garnering the anti-Brexit vote, and you've had some success, but if that's been put to bed, what then, you'll be a bit like UKIP was after the referendum, a ship without a paddle.

I could have brought up the fact that the under 50's largely voted remain and a lot of other interesting voter profiles but I think I will let it lie
I bet You could but then democratic votes are for all not just for under 50s,
Or so I thought till this debarcle happend and a lot of people pretended they cared about us the public, as it turns out they didn’t.

    We're not.
Hmmm, a Political Scientist Dr Lawrence Britt wrote an article about Fascism, he listed it's 14 characteristics, I was surprised to find a worrying number applied, in varying degrees, to the LibDems.

    1)"Powerful and Continuing Nationalism."
"constant use of slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays."

Not the nation state in this case but the EU Superstate. Every news broadcast sees a forest of EU flags in the background, EU painted faces, EU T shirts, some tw@t playing a glockenspiel.

2)"Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights".

You can't really show more disdain for someone's rights than to tell him his democratic vote is worthless, will be ignored and overturned.

    3)"Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause".

All those racist, right-wing, bigoted Little Englanders, better make a stand against those eh, not to mention all those over 50s, voting selfishly to deny the younger generations their rightful future in the EU.

    4)"Controlled Mass Media."
"Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation"

The LibDems were enthusiastic supporters of the obnoxious Hacked Off campaign and Leveson, a blatant attempt to muzzle our free press and put it under statutory regulation, even to the extent of having the likes of Coogan and Grant speaking at LibDem conferences.

5)"Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses."

Project Fear, scare the voting public ****less with a pack of lies about what fate will befall them if they vote to leave the EU.

    6)"Corporate Power is Protected."
"The industrial and business aristocracy often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite."

The EU in a nutshell. How do you think those unelected Commissioners who run the EU get those sinecures, we don't vote for them, we don't elect them.

    7)"Rampant Cronyism and Corruption.
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability."

19 MPs, of whom only 12 were elected as LibDems, have any of the others offered themselves for re-election, have they feck, they're in Parliament under false pretences, they're corrupt. 90 odd LibDem peers in the House of Lords, how did so many get there ? Rampant Cronyism, that's how.

It's not quite Meatloaf's two out of three ain't bad, but not far short, you're getting there 59. 7/14, you're halfway to Fascism, not a Party I would want to be associated with.

Sinkov, I can't believe you spent so much time putting that together.

You are so far off the mark you nearly shot yourself in the arse

If you really want me to respond in detail then please tell me - but is it really necessary?

    Let's argue about something different.

    Real ale or wine?

No debate here, real ale all day long.

    Wine is witches p1ss.

    Interesting 59 ,

Lidl today announce 15 billion 5 year growth plan in Britain with a promise to support More of our own produce,

What before Brexit I hear you ask a German company investing in the social outcasts of the Eu.

I have a strange feeling as I said before we are going to be absolutely fine, not crumbling and struggling as the remoaners say.

I’m sure you agree this can only be positive for us and our country.

Aldi are about to announce the same sort of investment.

Obviously, the Germans are not receiving the "Project Fear" message?

Army, I really hope that our country prospers after leaving the EU. Why wouldn't I?

This is great news so I am happy with it.

Neither are Jaguar LandRover, don't tell the Remoaners.

"Far from what the gloomsters proffer, the UK’s car industry looks like it’s shifting into top gear as Britain speeds towards the Brexit finishing line; with the announcement by Jaguar Land Rover of a new three million-square-foot distribution centre in Leicestershire, supplying to 80 markets worldwide. Fueling confidence in global Britain…...The new campus is expecting to create a sizable number of new jobs in the area and shows Jaguar Land Rover plan on having a stake in Britain’s sizable car industry for many more years to come. Remainers must be quite exhausted and tired of making wrong predictions,"
