quite a bit of emotions at club this last few weeks or so
If that’s the case then it’s quite a blunder from Warne playing him.

So change the scenario slightly and imagine the keeper caught the ball inside the post but carried it over the line so the referee gave a goal. Our fans are incensed and insist we should have been awarded an indirect free kick in a dangerous position.
Don't think so folks....surely the referee was right.
. Keeper caught the ball while it was in play so should have been an indirect free kick.

I haven't seen it on tv and must admit I wanted a free kick at the time of the incident.
It's only that I've thought about it since and wondered what the referee would have done if the keeper had carried the ball over the line between the posts.
It's academic really because the only thing that really matters is the final score 🙂.

The keeper caught the ball from a back pass so a free kick and yellow card 100%

In that case wouldn't the same apply if he'd carried the ball over the line between the posts?

It was a definite back pass the player even looked at the keeper before he kicked Ths ball.

Nows here’s a thought, had the keeper not caught the ball it would’ve been an own goal so should that be a red card for denying s clear goal scoring opportunity?

No no no. If he had caught the ball and taken it into the net (before the whistle was blown, giving us a free kick) it would have been a goal to us - advantage. No advantage having a corner vs a free kick 3 yards from the line. Under your mysterious argument a keeper can always avoid a back-pass free kick if he dives over the line quickly enough.

Strange that some people are saying the best team lost and we were lucky to win.
Admittedly the Brewers were more pleasing on the eye and playing pretty one touch football. But that does not mean you should win the match.
Up to 70 mins it could have gone either way with both teams having great chances to score more goals.

But once Freddie scored the winner there was only one team in it. I don't recall Burton putting us under any real danger from then on and they seemed to run out of energy and ideas. For the last 23/24 mins it was only us who looked like scoring again. I always think the team who finishes the strongest deserves to win regardless of how the opposition played earlier in the game.
That's nearly 25% of the match where we were in command.

Three deserved points in my view

Good call, flour. They seemed to wilt whereas our players appeared to get stronger.
    The fitness regime paying off?
