O/T:- Are we over-reacting to COVD19?

My vitamin D was 11 a year ago, should be around mid 30s. Took an off the shelf supplemnt of 3000Iu for a full year & in Jan was back to normal. I said to the Dr I'll stop it now then."No" not until April, then start again in September. It is lack of sunshine in those months. Ireland is prime for everybodys being low. Infact Pharma Nord thought there was something wrong with Irelands blood testing as all were low. Vitamin D is widely known as "The Sunshine Vitamin"

I've not been tested for Vitamim D deficiency but after reading the article linking it to sunshine I started taking it but stopped when the weather became more suitable for gardening and rambling. Now there has been shown a possible "cause and effect" between sunshine and immunity I'm back on 'em till the panic's over. Belt and braces.

Testing to be ramped up. Good decision IMO but slightly confusing as I think they only ramped it down last Thursday.

They admitted they are closer to the Italian scenario than previously thought.

Asking people to avoid social contact and not go out unless necessary. Not a lockdown but looks like a kind of requested/voluntary lockdown. Not sure how or if that will work. PM straight batted any questions about whether he was willing to enforce it by repeating that he has the legal power but thinks people will respect the request.

Govt withdrawing public support for large gatherings, which I suppose amounts to an effective ban if police and ambulances can't be at the football.

A lot of it sounded quite vague but said there will be more detailed guidance issued this evening.

Advising people to avoid social contact, avoid pubs, clubs, restaurants, theatres and any public gatherings.

This will be the death knell for half of these businesses. This is going to make the 2008 crash look like a teddy bears picnic.
