the Experts.....therein lies the difficulty I think the critics feel....in that they're saying, "how can you know what makes this so Dangerous, as that like others, it could fizzle away"....WHO/why was it decided so great a menace ? it wasn't the numbers.....I see it, like back when a cross was planted and claimed newly discovered Land in the name of a King....they didn't know the lay of it, knew nothing about it, but when home and asking for further exploration - the advisors (experts) tell the king - "dont bother, it's full of giant man eating ants and other great evils, so Stay Away".....but that never happened, as was pointless not to survey it, besides, they'd lose their jobs, perhaps their heads - unlike these days where incompetence is rewarded with promotion....and even more Power.

As in post 114 on page 12..... Based on incomplete and scanty data, the WHO Director General nonetheless predicted with authority that: “as many as 2 billion people could become infected with Swine Flu over the next two years — nearly one-third of the world population.” (World Health Organization as reported by the Western media, July 2009).
    but...the pandemic never happened

    Only an Expert- Laurie Anderson.

I never wipe my arse Balan, waste of time and toilet paper in my opinion. A good turn out followed by a shot or two from the bidet and the jobs a good 'un! On the other hand, trying to buy some for my ailing father-in-law is proving a tad difficult.

I bet you would take guidance from the chief medical officer. Luckily, our PM is doing that.

There will always be people who think that we should do the opposite of what the experts say, but they are our best hope in national emergencies and if we don't listen to them then who the hell do we go to for advice?
I think that one of the best lessons I was ever taught at school was to take a healthily sceptical approach to any opinion I was presented with no matter how great an authority it appeared to have. I have some cause for concern about this medical advice as indeed I had for the so-called expert legal advice given to Tony Blair about the legality of the Iraq war. I am not dismissing it out of hand but I think it should be viewed rightly with a degree of caution. I might follow the guidance but I would certainly not accept it without demur.

Let's just consider what's on the table here? A person of Chinese origin living in Wuhan, eats a bat or a snake in October 2019 and by 18/03/2020 I can't buy a bog roll or go and watch Burnley?

    Someone's taking the pish mate!
Some used to say that Mr Garlick was taking the pish, overflowing the dry powder store, racking up the profits year on year, while spending next to nowt in PL terms. Well the money coming into football is drying up now, clubs will be going to the wall, but while club owners and CEOs run around chasing their tails, trying to keep their clubs a going concern, Mr Garlick will be sat back in the boardroom, feet on the table, lighting another cigar as he looks at our latest balance sheet with barely a care in the world.

Exactly sinkov. Bucking the trend takes a bit of bottle. Mike's got crate loads of it!

Whether by accident or design BT, the old boy got it right, if we go under due to this virus, there'll be at least 90 gone before us.

interesting - but they can't take what isn't there - so if Garlick is really wily (or has friends who are) then he'll have put it somewhere (or into something) safe - before they empty the pot (mandatory seizure of excess wealth) to feed those poor and needy corps, because only they can save us (they reckon)...this is War - you know !

We do our best barrie, we give Boro £15m for Gibson and then send him back to help collect the cones on their training ground.
