Drive your Porsches over a cliff , made gearboxes for tiger tanks. krupps...chuck your coffee machine, made ovens for cremation in death camps. Ram your BMW (the little fockers) into the wall, made engines for Focke-Wulf fighter.

You can't ask people to contribute to the economy and the country whilst celebrating those involved in their subjugation.

I just think people are getting worked up over nothing, for example it's no harm to you personally that the statue in Bristol is taken down but it being up might have personally hurt black people who walk past it every morning on they way to work. Get it down then, it's nothing to do with Britishness, it's common sense and morally right.
Well it seems a whole load of statues in London are earmarked for removal. And Lewis Hamilton, the richest sportsman in British history has waded in so I must be wrong eh?

    Sounds like sanitisation to me.

And it affects me because I'm not being listened to and am getting to the point I daren't speak.

The statues weren't put up because the guys were slavers - no-one said "oh he's brought in 5000 slaves, top man". Britain was built on exploitation. Bulldoze it down.

Where are the Black Lives Matters protests when Black people have and are still killing more Black people than probably any Whites have done?

Anyway I give up before I get to the point I put Swale in a difficult position.

Oh my word, the schoolboy actually thinks he needs to explain his point as if it was the facts that were laughable. Never mind. I don't think I need to explain the ludicrousness of the comment to the grown ups.

Impressive evasion there! Instead of simply quoting other websites, how about offering your own opinion? If you'll give it, I would ask you:

    1. Do you think the government made the correct decision in allowing the Cheltenham Festival and other major sporting events to take place?

    2. On a scale of 1-10, how good do you think the government's handling of the coronavirus crisis has been?

I've just watched the interview with The Chaser, Barrister, Shaun Wallace. FFS, he's been stopped twice because he fits a profile of some wanted person. As soon as he made it clear who he was the issue was over. So what's to happen, "suspect not questioned for fear of race allegation?".

I tell you what, ever since the electronic auto passport machines were brought in I fail. The first couple of times I thought it was random checking. The next couple of times I thought maybe my passport was not as clear as it should have been because it had been through the wash with my shorts. Then I got a new passport and lo and behold the machines still wouldn't let me go so I did the queue for manual checking. This time I asked, and you know what, I apparently fit the profile of some wanted person. Bloody racists - I'll tell 'em what for next time I don't get through. How dare they?

Talk about playing the bloody victim card.

This particular statue was put up by the Victorians because of this chap’s 18th century philanthropy. Philanthropy paid for by slave labour. The empire WAS built on exploitation. I can see why you would object to how this statue got pulled down, I really can’t see though why you would want it back up.

The Black Lives Matter campaign is specifically aimed to reduce the number of black people killed in police custody. Again, I don’t see why anyone would have objections to that campaign. If you would like to start a campaign to reduce the number of black people killed by other black people, no one is stopping you. I have a feeling though that you’re not really that bothered about it.

Oldpie - Before you start saying anything you will really regret please stop. This is a fairly well reasoned thread so far. And it looks like you're now threatening to come out with some 1970s personal racist stuff, rather than the 2020 institutionally racist stuff you've been peddling thus far.

Also, I'm really sorry to hear a machine was mean to you in an airport once.

I was stopped, several times not just once, because I was profiled.

If you knew my life you would know that I'm fairly "colour blind". To be clear I agree there is no excuse for anyone who is supposed to uphold the law to use excessive force regardless. I was astounded that the officer and the others nearby weren't immediately arrested.

But I will still stop commenting because clearly I'm no longer entitled to a view and if you really believe I am institutionally racist then you've got a problem.

The problem is what does the term 'racist' actually mean? To me Old_pie the poster doesn't come across as a racist at all in the nasty sense of the word where you automatically don't like people of a different race. In fact, I think a decade or two ago you might even have been considered a liberal! In some of your views on here however you come across as what I would term a mild 'generational racist'. By that I mean that I would guess that for the majority of your life England was a predominantly white country where people sang 'God save the Queen' with passion and felt a sense of Britishness (your word). I think that's changed forever, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse, but it's not the England you knew and loved. If I'm talking bollox here please correct me and I'll apologise, but it goes back to what I suggested before - that it's a form of evolution where the dinosaurs are gradually being replaced by a more modern species.
