Im quite happy at this. But i do think it needs asked about the past for such a high profile position. I would be looking for endorsement from the likes of kick it out before appointing him. In many ways this kind of behaviour is prevelant and silent in our society indeed we as a nation seem to celebrate it in some forms (sectarianism). If the very fact education has changed MM, his language and opinion to what is offensive surely that is a good thing from which hopefully can be used extensively. I am very impressed by how kick it out supported him - i needed to go back and read it as wasnt interested then. This role is different and more in public eye so surely we can engage with kick it out for advice.

With so much going on in the game on race just now maybe this can be seen as a good thing?

Ashghar keen to point out that they are succession planning all the time then Powers comes out and says stuff about his coaching badges having been done.

Reckon he might take over as a coach if and when Forrest and McCulloch go? He may have been signed in the first place with one eye on this...

The world is about rehabilitating and retraining these days. There was a few posts not so long ago about how you can't just sack useless c*nts in the workplace anymore, you have to retrain them. .

So we should surely be practicing what we preach. There's no point rehabilitating someone but still holding whatever it is they did, against them.

During my younger days and probably up to the early 90’s many people the length and breadth of Britain use similar language to that used by Malky to describe ethnic minority groups ie just nipping down to the P****, going for C*****, and laughed at tv programmes which depicted
anyone not traditionally ‘British’ or maybe a wee bit effeminate. The vast majority did not say these words or laugh at the programmes out of any malice, merely that was just the terms of reference and what comedy depicted at that time. We’ve all had to ‘re educate’ ourselves over the years so I’d guess Malky McKay does not stand alone, he was just a higher profile figure that the press had a field day with. He has my forgiveness whether he ends up at Tannadice or not, and if he does and he takes us back to the levels we became accustomed to, them I’d wear a t-shirt with his name and image on it with pride.

I hadnt even thought of that and didnt even know he was tbh. Mackay seems to have gone full lengths to address what was really poor behaviour.

Lord Ousley from kick it out stated this:
“He [Mackay] was caught up in stuff that was unacceptable and he paid a very big price for that, both in terms of his own reputation and, indeed, his job prospects. “People learn from their mistakes and hopefully Malky has and will demonstrate on behalf of the people of Scotland and to the people of Scotland that he’s worthy of such a position. People need to move on. He is not Harvey Weinstein.”
