You need wealthy people , you need the super rich .

You need these people to create businesses , investment and employ people and that creates tax revenue for governments .

For that cycle to continue you need aspirational people but alongside that you also have to create the social conditions that makes aspirations achievable .

Even the Tory government know we have a levelling up problem so that's an admittance that exists .

Aspirations have different levels , aspiration could simply be a young couple wanting to own their own home for instance , affording a University education or simply making more than the minimum wage .

That's the issue , opportunity , creating more opportunity so that aspiration is achievable .

Anyway that’s my take on it and I’m sure you’ll come up with another side step which you accuse others of doing.
Nah. I've said I'll give it a rest millertop and I will I am a man of my word despite my other faults! You and everyone are witness to me saying this on here. (Even our lass says she gets fed up of me talking! )

We can talk footy and other stuff. We still have a lot in common...

One of the biggest issues that exists in politics today and is undoubtedly a major cause in inequality is the buying of democracy .

Bought by donations and lobbying groups , big corporations can afford to pay huge fees to lobbying groups , small businesses can't .

You are seeing right now on the front pages of newspapers the donation and influence getting played out over the housing development in Tower Hamlets .

This exists in the EU , Westminster and in America and it needs major reform .

New Labour fell foul off this with the million quid Bernie Ecclestone donated to the party in the late 90's over tobacco advertising on formula one cars .

Who is at the wheel here driving policy , governments or donations and the lobbyists ? .

As I say this needs major reform because it's not only undemocratic it's sleazy with Banana Republic implications .

Levelling up you say , the government may want to look at themselves first and foremost .

I grew up in East Herringthorpe, my Dad drove tankers for BOC and my Mum was a barmaid at the Davy Lamp and the Grapes. I went to Spurley and started work at 16. Now, I suppose that I fall in your category of having a few bob. Everything is relative. I live in a bigger house than the one I built in Rotherham, but my neighbours house across from me is twice as big as ours. Another house next to him is twice as big as his. My wife and I often donate to areas hit by hurricanes and one of my best mates is black. Sota, is the pool cleaning job still available at yours? If so is it ok to self isolate in the west wing?

It's the nature of the beast, animal. The TUs don't fund Labour for fun and Ken McCluskey appeared joined to Corbyn at the hip.

Too many want to drag people down.

You only have to read the stuff on here. There's a faction who simply wallow in the past. Their kids have most probably been brought up in these households and they have never stood a chance. Nothing to do with opportunities available.

Give me the boy of 7 and I will give you the man.

State education provides a base to make something from your life. The class system stifles and makes it harder but what happens due to lifestyle choices and contempt for the current system damages opportunities more.

Completely sick of reading the tripe on here to be honest. It's clear some people don't have the tools in life and can't provide for themselves. Unfortunately a growing proportion are hiding behind the people that genuinely need help. Looking for freebies. Confidence trickster types talking tripe.

Like yourself, We'll donate to causes when and if we want to. We pay our taxes, we don't cheat anyone out of a penny. I think what these people forget, we've come from the same background as they have. We've worked hard to get away from them.

It's only a few of them but by heck, are they bitter and twisted.

I can stomach the 2 or 3 posters who have patently worked hard and have different views but this bunch of idiot non achievers who label everyone else right wing Nazi sympathisers, need to give their kids and grandchildren a chance by crawling under a stone for next 10 years or better still forever.

    No respect for anything.
