All this black people are treated unfairly in this country imo is not true. We are one of the most civilised country’s in the world. There is good and bad in every race and when did it become wrong to be wealthy?

There is a real danger that the message is been lost and all the so called fighting for equality is looking to me from the outside it’s not about equality but special treatment. Take black pound day what a ridiculous notion that is.
    That’s racist imo.
I’ve fought for this country I’m British and proud of it and grateful that I live in a country that has allowed me to prosper and be successful.
All these so called sympathisers arguing on BAME behalf with very little knowledge is not helping.
Racism is a two way streak and is wrong whoever it’s against.
I’m British and successful and proud of it.
Well done to People like Howdy and Sota.
Enjoy your rewards for hard work.
If you work hard you will be rewarded is what I tell my kids.
    . Well said.

We didnt want it to eat all our cash reserves and leave cash flow tight we restarted (liquidity - which gm had such difficulty getting his head round - lol).

The next big issue for many will be liquidity and productivity (if we're required to implement covid protocal and social distancing). Some sectors will get hammered. I was going to ask whether this will effect you (Ive got a mate running an engineering company with on site maintenance contracts and its killing them - he sees it like a slow drain of cash).
Seems like you did the right thing. Fortunately we conduct all our work onsite and we've got plenty of space for social distancing. Furloughed 50% overnight and whoever we needed and could work from home did. Channelled all enquiries through our best salespeople to ensure maximum conversion rate. We've split shifts and even, god forbid, someone did get COVID-19 we could keep things going. The people who have continued coming into work have been brilliant and I've had less hassle since March, than I usually get in a week.

Cash collection has been a lot better than I thought it would be but saying that, I refuse to deal with companies, for whom we can't get credit insurance cover. Cashflow was never going to be a worry unless we had to close for 12 months.

Unable top predict when business will be back to normal but we keep pulling enough work in to feel optimistic. We're not losing money and we are starting to bring some of the people out of furlough.

I prefer the profit is sanity approach to business, so fingers crossed it won't get any worse than it is now.

If there was no liquidity in the economy you wouldnt have been able to access either furlough money or BBL ...your company ahd a short term cash flow issue due to a black swan event

Lol, you really dont seem to get it. You are thinking cash and liquidity are 2 different things. Maybe this will help:

"Definition: Liquidity refers to the availability of cash or cash equivalents to meet short-term operating needs. In other words, liquidity is the amount of liquid assets that are available to pay expenses and debts as they become due."

It can apply equally to banks, governments, businesses or individuals. But never mind.

    Well ok that's fine .

So why would Johnson be looking to raise £20bn a year and invest in a levelling up policy if there's nothing wrong then ?

Is it just an ego trip and a waste of taxpayers or private investment funds ? , another Garden Bridge project if you will ? .

Would you be against such investment given your own circumstances and feel it's not necessary ?

Well I've been around for a few decades now and to be honest I've never heard as much anti-black sentiment and comments as I'm seeing and hearing now.

A lot of folks are pissed off about hearing BLM and it's associated rhetoric.

    They're just being used.

A lot of people's livelihoods depend on there being "institutional racism" so expect the exaggeration to continue and multi-millionaires like Raheem Sterling and Lewis Hamilton to keep telling white working class people on council estates that they're privileged.

    I'm working class.

I have been extraordinarily fortunate in the opportunities that have presented themselves to me. In day to day life I now find myself in predominantly middle class circles and doing many privileged activities. It has been eye opening to me how different the world I grew up in is compared to the one middle class people inhabit.

I'm very proud of my working class background. I'm also proud to be from a country that has educated me, looked after my health and allowed me to prosper. Should I have kids I want to teach them the value of hard work, to be grateful of what they have, and to not take anything for granted.

One thing I've learned from my experiences in middle class circles is just how unfair the divide is between the haves and the have-nots. When I look back at the prospects of the kids I went to school with, and I compare it to the poorly performing kids from more privileged backgrounds - its night and day. It has almost nothing to do with how hard a person works and an awful lot more to do with the opportunities and wealth that their parents had.

The fact that I have been able 'climb' the social ladder does not prove the system is fair. It just shows its not impossible.

That is why I can be thankful for what I have and that I have been lucky enough to be able to have it, and determined to make the most of it, but that I will always fight for the working classes to have the opportunities that the middle classes take for granted.
