The Pyramids and Rome are entirely irrelevant. If you pulled down everything that had been built via God awful working conditions there’d be little left from certain eras.
This is about individuals being put on a pedestal, both literally and metaphorically, as being amongst the ‘great and the good’...then when you discover the truth, i.e. that they were far from what they/their supporters wanted everyone to believe, removing the tribute.
History is littered with examples of statues/tributes that have been removed when perspectives have changed...Colston, and the Confederate Generals are just the latest examples.

Thats rubbish. The artifacts of Tutenkhamen are shown around the world. The living god of a people enslaving a race.
Does anyone deny/or demand justice for this outrage in Egypt? No.
Statues / busks of Caligula still exist today. Recognised as Romes most brutal and evil emporer ever. Slaves/ Christians butchered for amusement. Destroyed and removed ? No.

History is history. Explanations and education is called for.
At the moment this is being very selective about African slavery and the great satan is GB and USA.
Most of Europe was part of the slave trade and world played its part. Africa itself, the muddle east, the far east, south America. No such out rage to the monuments sy=till erected there.
We have our past. Its dark in places, but we recognised that and played a major role in getting it reversed.
Yet this shame and guilt trip party is getting weird.

    Thank you.

So start a campaign that demands justice for ‘outrages in Egypt’ or ‘outing’ Caligula if you feel so strongly about it.

Fact is the BLM protestors have targeted the statues of Colston and the Confederate Generals...you, like the Express, Mail and Sun, don’t support them...I do and I’ve explained why.

Whether you think it’s rubbish or not, it’s a fact that statues have been toppled as perspectives and ideals change and these are the most recent examples. The fact that it doesn’t fit well with you isn’t my problem.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrm, I'm not outraged by a few ancient bits of stone/bronze / marble
I have no desire to amplify it in any way, it's ancient history.
As said what's done is done. All you need to do is explain it properly.

If BLM is your bag, then that's your problem.
    Never forget its main aims.
    1. Defund, disband the police
    2. Scrap capitalism
    3. Abandon western values.

Not my words, theirs. On their websites.
If you think ripping down a few bits of stone and marble is the aim, you're away with the fairies.

USA first. A race war is being provoked by this group. With the armaments floating around over there, you'll get one.
There are some in this country trying their best to push us the same way. Sheep though are sheep and not all DCFC related.

You’re the one who introduced Egypt and Rome into things and spoke of ‘outrage in Egypt’ with your usual tactic of deflection.
It is, as you say ‘ancient history’ and, as I’ve said, scarcely relevant.

I’ve tried to stay on the issues of BLM, the media reaction and the reasons behind the targeting of certain statues, particularly - in this country - Colston’s.

I’d have thought the repeated shooting of black people in the USA was more likely to ‘provoke a race war’ than anything else, but the real question is...is it appropriate for statues of those associated with racist behaviour and - by any other name - white supremacy, to remain in any modern multicultural society?

Clearly we see things differently which must come as little surprise to anyone.

So speaks the voice of reason whose views could be lifted word for word from the pages of the right wing media!

Hey i watched channel 4 news tonight and the presenter was a young arabic woman wearing a headscarf, try as I might to get upset at a BAME person being "dough-nutted" into the media, all I could think of was what a good calm unbiased presenter she was and focus on what she was saying!

Was that wrong of me? Am I betraying my country by not giving a **** about who does what as long as they can do the job well?

I've also been searching the BBC for those light entertainment shows crammed full of left wing comedians, to be honest I couldn't find that many and they certainly weren't crammed full of what i would term left wing comedians, on the whole they were reasonably balanced as to who was the butt of their jokes, included quite a few aimed at left wing figures and other subjects that I wouldn't consider right or left wing.

I admit I didn't find many "right wing" comedians but then I've not really seen many right wing comedians that didn't "punch down" with their jokes! I mean where is Jim Davidson when you need him?

The fact that you seem to have categorised me as extreme left wing is interesting, its akin to Trump calling the Democrats socialists! Must be all that right wing crap you absorb everyday addling your brain!

Yes the media is biased, some obviously so, some subtly so and some unintentionally so. Some all the time and some some of the time. Even more confusing, they sometimes contradict themselves.

Then again is depends upon ones personal perspective, if your a rabid right winger, then only left wing media are biased, if your a rabid left winger then only right wing media are biased. If your AF only the BBC is biased!

Personally I think he’s a divisive, attention seeking, scumbag and, personally, I don’t wish to see such people given airtime.
On the evidence of your comment last night you probably don’t care because you don’t know any of the people he’s made life difficult for and he us unlikely to have an impact on your life.
    Correct
