Come on guys --increase your worrying! Tarks was playing in the friendly against Maritimo this afternoon but Tarks was captain.
McNeil scored from a header when Bardsley crossed. Joey crossed for Wood to glide a header in for the second and Vydra came on as a sub and scored when set up by Wood.
Ake played for a club that shipped 65 goals and got relegated, Burnley conceded 15 less and finished 10th, of course he could go for less than Aki, but it would take a fairly inept negotiating team that allowed it to happen. Worryingly though, inept is the first word that springs to mind when I think about our transfer dealings.
The squad is threadbare Supersub6. Our team for this friendly virtually picked itself. It looks certain to me we will be relying on kids to bolster the squad for the imminent EPL campaign.
Burnley team from yesterday: Pope; Bardsley (Lowton 60), Long, Tarkowski, Taylor (Pieters 60); Gudmundsson, Westwood (Benson 65), Brownhill, McNeil (Brady 65); Rodriguez (Vydra 65), Wood. Substitutes: Peacock-Farrell, Dunne, Thomas, Norris.
Sort of proves my point I think.![]()
BT --15 of the 16 players used yesterday played a part last season, although Joey and Brady did not feature too much because of injury.
Cork, Mee and Barnes will be returning from injury at some time --that makes 18 regulars.
You can only use 14 players in any one game and the team usually picks itself anyway.
Been saying it all summer BT, not many in, not many out, we'll start next season with more or less the same team we finished the last one. Nothing happened yet to even remotely make me think I was wrong.
Of course no Burnley fan wants relegation, not even me really, although I would much rather watch us in the Championship, it would be such a shame to throw away all the hard work of manager, coaches and players to keep us at this level. But if ever a club, or more accurately I should say a Chairman and Board, deserved relegation, it's ours.![]()
Don't know Barrie, is it really ? Dyche has been virtually pleading with Garlick, and pleading quite publicy, for him to stretch the budget. The manager is ignored, the budget does not get stretched. Garlick thinks he knows better than the best manager we've ever had how to keep us in the PL. Hubris on such a scale deserves to be punished, and usually is.
