In Comparison significant numbers of our population chose not to comply and had little regard for any of the rules or self-discipline.
Our track/ Trace system has been criticised but I have it on very good authority that the appalling figures are mainly down to individuals giving false information, refusing to cooperate when traced and ignoring the advice to isolate. And yes it is mainly the 18-30 group.
It’s getting the balance right between peoples freedoms.
I take a very hard line with discipline im afraid so I’m biased but I’d send patrols out on the street hoovering up the those idiots off the street and carting them to detention centres.
Maybe you have a point. But the difference in numbers is staggering. What I do know from when I was in Bahrain on Lockdown 1 earlier this year is that the authorities there cracked down on discipline with an iron fist. People had to wear masks period ..... if you were caught out without one it was a $20,000 fine or months in prison. Also I remember flying back into Bahrain in June. On arrival everyone arriving was offloaded from the plane and sent to a “processing centre” where you were tested, registered and equipped with a tag which monitored your movements 24/7 which was linked to an app which alerted you 5x per day with reminders. In fact you even had to send in a photo 3x per day showing you were self isolating in your home. All a bit heavy handed but to be honest maybe it’s the only way ....... if you don’t follow the rules the punishment is severe .......

Where did the students get the Covid virus from in the first place. It certainly was not rampant in the UK in the summer.

Why the heck did we as a continent allow free movement at a time when we were just getting on top of it. I sort of expect that from Europe with free movement but aren’t we put of the EU now. Those of us who refused to go to Spain in July lost out financially, personally to the tune of £2500 for family flights alone, but we could see what a ridiculous situation it was to be travelling at that time.

If we had kept the borders closed we would not have seen the increases, mainly driven by younger age groups, who were the ones partying all over Europe in the summer and then coming back to spread it. I thought Brexit was about controlling our borders as much as anything. Fell at the first fence with that one in my opinion.

No good moaning now there were plenty of other age groups who were very happy to have their two weeks in the sun in July/August and they are as much a part of the problem as the students because they will have been just as likely to bring it back as anyone.

One of the aspects of this forthcoming lockdown is the closure of swimming pools; catching Covid in a swimming pool is extremely unlikely. One would have thought that enabling people to get some exercise in such a safe environment would be encouraged. Sadly, it appears that ‘thinking’ is something way beyond the capabilities of many members of our government. The pool that I use has put many measure in place to make it a safe an environment as possible, even introducing some useless measures! Since the pools reopened after the previous lockdown, I have worked very hard to get back to the level that I had in March, now I’ll have to do it all over again. I wouldn’t mind so much if it made any sense shutting the pools.

I see also, that the Police near Bristol have been engaging an overnight exercise in stopping an illegal rave, with over 700 present; some having their usual pleasures in attacking the police. A large part of the reasons for having to suffer this next lockdown is because of these f*****g tw@ts.

We are too soft in this country. The police should round these w ankers up and fine them 10,000 each minimum!!! The true losers of this lock down will be those on low wages and small businesses on the high street who now won't be able to sell their Christmas stock! The rich will get richer and the poor poorer!

I would also hit companies like Amazon with hefty taxation as yet again, they will be the winners and for sure on their financial accounts for this country they will show a loss! Horrible horrible company and I refuse to buy anything from them!

I know I get little consideration on here, so I will butt out after this, however, you are all going into what can only be described as a partial lockdown, which in all honesty, is most likely to result in only short term and limited success. The UK will be back to square one in no time. Simply put, lessons have not been learned from the first time round.

Do you believe the statistics/numbers/figures from China? I don’t.

When they bolted and welded the people’s front doors in Wuhan, they still got outbreaks. Says something about the efficiency of lockdowns etc, when not even a dictatorship can fix it...

I’d always prefer ”the liberal state” to a dictatorship.

With all due respect, you can’t compare a/any country with a small, isolated, and yes, island with a small population.

Belgium went into an early and hard lockdown in the spring, they then opened up and people behaved relatively sensibly (I visit Belgium on a yearly basis, was there 1 1/2 weeks in July). Now, they are one of the worst hit again, and a new lockdown is imposed. This, together with all the hugely negative health effects of a lockdown, shows that it is a bad idea for countries.

Many experts and lockdown promoters said in the spring that hard lockdowns would beat or even eradicate the virus, we now know they were wrong.

We have to learn to live with it over time and therefore have sustainable and prudent measures, not draconian ones.

Even this do called “Digital Services Tax” has turned out to be a p I s s take.

It was meant to be a tax on the likes of such as Amazon but Amazon have been able to negotiate their way out of it.

They agreed a deal whereby the 2% tax gets paid by third party sellers such as my company on Amazon and they pack f u c k all on all the goods they themselves pay!!

HMRC and the government are a total pushover with these c u n t s.......it’s time they were absolutely hammered.

Could not agree more with you Mick! Independent businesses will go bust whilst Amazon will clean up - absolute w ankers!
Drivers dump things on doorsteps or leave in the rain and people say - Wow Amazon are so good! Yes they are good if the delivery driver actually gets an item to you without a problem! Amazon driver claimed he had left a laptop on my doorstep in the pouring rain and when it was not there, Amazon told me they needed a police report. The police said they don't do reports as quite rightly enough to do, so tell Amazon to do one. Cameras proved the driver left nothing so perhaps he nicked it or left it somewhere else. Absolute hateful company! Companies like this should be hammered for taxation.

We sell on all channels but refuse to sell on Amazon. You have to wait for your money, and these c unts actually encourage customer returns if the product is not 100% to satisfaction and the customer is always right. I went on a business course with Amazon and all you heard for three hours by young brainwashed Amazon graduates - we are doing you a huge favor by opening up our platform for third party sellers and we at Amazon will conquer the world! W ankers!

Sadly I have to rely on a lot of my trade via Flippin Amazon. I use em plus their other platform abebooks cos I deal in a lot of antiquarian stuff and I can command some very high prices on there and have had some huge mark ups on there recently. But as Al says the customer is always right and my god Ive been stung a few times with flippin dropshippers and Amazon have not done enough to discourage this practice and as for getting sh1t feedback removed, well forget it. On good days the bay can be good for me which I would prefer to use for the bulk of my cheaper end stock but the volumes are no where near as I can push through on Amazon.

Fortunately I have enough stock this time to get through this second lockdown as Ive worked like an hoss to stack me unit to the rafters as I knew this was coming
