Three north east lads in the RAF Band I was in at the time were interviewed because of the bogus tape. One of them said that the bloke talking was from Sunderland (he was correct).
After I left the RAF I went working for a chap to expand his book selling business and he told me that he too had been interviewed because he travelled a lot and had been seen in that area several times.
That bogus tape cost a few more lives in the end --so sad.
