A bit harsh vanilla , the press we put on teams gives our opponents very little option but to go direct against us .

That's the whole philosophy of our strategy and with all due respect better teams than yourselves have fallen foul of our tactics .

We have our limitations at this level but it's unlikely you'll face a team as you did tonight who will press you as much as we do .

We strangle the feck out of teams with better players and budgets and force them to find another way , the better teams such as Bournemouth and Swansea have the answers the teams below us don't .

It's a canny strategy but it's not a game to define Rotherham United by any means at this level in my opinion .

Last time we beat Barnsley, I met my future wife that December. We are now Grandparents to four , so didn't expect too much .
Given the circumstances I thought maybe 3 or 4 nil, so pleasently surprised that we competed so well. Didn't do enough to deserve a draw, but at least showed some fight.
Good luck Reds on your battle for the play-offs.
As for us, we will re-group in the third division next season, and hopefully get another promotion.

We should have played the reserves and then we could have used covid as an excuse!!

We won't be troubling the top six Jock , the better teams play through our press and then we fecked mate .

Bournemouth beat it with ease and gave us a reight lesson .

Possibly 60 points and mid table at best .

Maybe we should use the high press as well. Saying that, we did in the first half against Brentford but we couldn't do it in the second half because we had played a couple of days before. I'm guessing we didn't do it today (I didn't watch) but that will be because of covid.

That's what people will tell me anyway. I have now put it down to the fact that we are not good enough for this division.

The covid thing is basically a get out of jail free card for our management team. We win and they are brilliant, we lose and it’s down to covid.

Yes some players have had it, some have had to isolate, but let’s remember that other than isolation most of the players have had a rest due to fixture cancellations

We’ve always known that fitness coaching at the club is very good, but when it comes to skills coaching, well there’s a big question mark over that

Thought Barnsley went long a big percentage of game bypassing midfield as breckin said on comms playing percentage game and as other people have pointed out to exploit a slow aging centre half and a midfielder playing left wing back . I personally think Thommo should be given a start if Mcdonald not fit. As much as i like wood other teams must see it as a weak area when he plays especially at this level (but he does give 100%) . Loans can all be sent back for me in January if we can get others in as they haven't offered anything at all .
Come on scotty find some January gems.

Shark you can't just try and reinvent yourselves as a high pressing team .

The fundamentals have to come with recruiting the type of players who fit the strategy .

The club made a decision which is on the record three year ago and wanted to see a high press , aggressive type of football played and recruited HC's and players to play this way .

Stendel , Struber and Val were hired because that's the type of football they played .

The recruitment was always matched to play this way .

It's had it's hard knocks and a massive stroke of luck last season admittedly .

We are a massively low budget championship club and you have to find a way with the odds massively stacked against you at this level .

It's bearing fruit right now which isn't to say It will last in the longer term .

We were in this position three years ago and were relegated the following season .

    But what gems?

To stay in Championship or with league 1 in mind?

I miss the days when we used to have irons in the fire.
