At the top level, footballers live in a bubble at the best of times anyway, and are probably some of the most protected people in the country - hence the anger from these clubs when players jeopardize that by having gatherings at their homes (most recently Mendy). Testing seems to be the key, though, and the top leagues can afford this. Don’t even think it’s about squad size, as there just haven’t been that many outbreaks at the top levels when you can isolate people quickly.

The big question for me is why League 1 has been more adversely affected than League 2 - there most be some correlation between most-affected areas geographically and L1 clubs.

I can understand whi the top leagues should carry on (they can afford to cover the medical costs), but leagues 1, 2, and the three National League divisions should take a break for a month - when hopefully the NHS will be in a less vulnerable position and, hopefully, the vaccine programme will be in full swing.

Surprised so many people are calling for the season to be cancelled. Are we talking null and voiding it or doing what we did last season and accepting a play off place?

There's been some talk of disruption next winter as well. If we scrap this season at lower level and fall out of step with tiers 1 and 2 then that could spell the beginning of the end of the pyramid as we know it.

So you or some employer pressures him to work against his better judgment and his assessment of the risk to himself and his family... he gets Covid19, then either he or a family member dies or suffers debilitation that will impact health for years or the rest of your life....what would you say then? ...and for what, to sit in the subs seats with a bunch of guys you can't be sure are protecting themselves.

The frontline people you mention are true heroes and should be duly rewarded for their dedication and sacrifice. I know they kind of sign up for that, but any one of them deciding to step away should have that decision accepted I think...

On the point raised by Cher, we don't know about the level of immunity from having covid before. I've been working in covid testing for 9 months now and it's a strict 3-months for exemption from re-testing. There have been documented re-infections and the science isn't sure that you can't be re-infected even within that short period. We simply can't be sure as yet.

The fact that some are putting their lives at risk doing important jobs is quite a good argument for those doing relatively unimportant jobs not to...

I'll answer I believe null and void is best now.

Im not against PPG though but as less than 50% have been played its not right.

Next winter Whitty said we may have to put small steps in place im guessing he means the care homes and 80+ to be protected.

There is zero point its not enjoyable is it and without fans its not sport ive said this from day one.

Thomas should be furloughed and told to look for another club.

He could live alone for a while if there is a problem within his family.

As for scrapping the season, you all need to grow a pair.

BTW I’ve had COVID symptoms since the 29th December but unless hospitalised will not be having a test.

Let's hope the Chief Exec and Owners read NCM and this thread. Excellent suggestions as always JT. It's quality over quantity as usual.

BTW, well done you.... I think?!

    Anyone?

If Jimmy Sirrel were manager now I dare say Thomas would not have been treated so sympathetically. Personally I'm not going to judge people who feel the need to go into hiding but I'm not going to condemn people who refuse to join in with the mass hysteria either.
I just wonder if the billions that has been spent on encouraging or forcing perfectly healthy people at negligible risk to stay at home could have been put to better use helping the genuinely vulnerable.

As for cancelling the season, maybe people here wouldn't be so keen if we were neck and neck with Torquay.

Jimmy Sirrel never managed during a pandemic did he so we dont know how he would react.

For me its simple how are we going to fit 30 games in when games are being cancelled every single week.

Peoples health SHOULD always come first.

All this man up talk needs to stop as well when you get CMO officers and last night the head of the NHS saying its a crisis you listen.
