Despite the Punk Rock thing starting over here in '75, I think McClaren manufactured the Pistols, based on earlier 'punk bands' such as New York Dolls & The Ramones who were already doing something similar in the US.

It proved to be very popular in the UK which was probably due to the socio-political-economic situation in the mid-seventies.

I was a ****ager and shouldn't have been watching what was looked upon as an old man's programme but I saw many bands on there for the first time Bondie, Tom Petty, Gary Numan all spring to mind.

Rock Goes To College was similar - first time I saw Be Bop Deluxe, Police, Jon Otway & Wild Willie Barrett, etc
