Way out of order. Criticising players or any sportsperson for their performance goes with the territory but personal insults like this are crossing the line.

Don’t get me wrong Mick as all racial abuse is horrendous but it’s a one way street as you say. Poor poor footballers on 30 grand a week who need support from their employer and the whole country knows about it! This girl in our town did nothing and her only crime was to be pretty and called a white slapper etc etc! Far worse abuse to a kid than to a grown man on social media earning the riches for pretending to be a premier league footballer!
Are West Brom FC saying now that if a supporter gets racial abuse on their premises the club will put their name on the website and support them too?
Any form of racial abuse is disgusting whether it’s a footballer or a homeless person on the street - there should be no differentiation! I hope such abuse means he will not be deservedly dropped on Saturday!! If Sawyers starts again in front of Gallagher then I can’t be bothered any more!

That's great and hope they ban him! There's no news on the arrest of a young white girl in our area who was racially abused by five lads. If Sawyers was quite rightly upset with social media abuse and being a grown up man - this young girl who had the abuse to her face must be absolutely devastated. Sadly - this girl is a nobody and that's sad!
Can't see why footballers open themselves up anyway to even be on social media or any other high profile figures but it's all about more power and profile. But like Trump on Twitter which worked against him!

You are perfectly correct Al, everybody on this board is disgusted by the racial abuse that Sawyers has received but that should not alter the fact that his form has been appalling for a long time now and should be dropped. All the criticism that he has received on here has been because of his poor performances on the field of play and justifiably so. It's nothing at all to do with colour, just his performances. Unfortunately, what has happened has made it even more imperative that he is left out today as this, together with his lack of form, would make it extremely difficult for him.
On a wider scale shouldn't the government step in and close down these social media sites which pedal these disgusting posts. Their mealy mouthed apologies mean nothing. They're more than happy to publish these posts and have no intention of making any real effort to stop them. If they had the desire to do so they could easily do it. They are just as much a disgrace as those who write these vile comments.

An arrest has been made of a 49 year old man. I don’t know when his name will be revealed but when it is could he promptly be booted off this board if he contributes.
