It was Hamilton Hall they both went for (the big red building overlooking the 18th green) not the Old Course Hotel. Trump at that time couldn't get finance for it. Kohler own both of them now. They also own The Dukes Golf Course next to Fedidnch where Ogren is now a part of.

Where is Fedinch in relation to the Dukes mate? With the new Castle Course right at the back of the town not long open might another development be a course too far? Oggy obviously doesn't think so but maybe he's a masochistic investor who likes a lost cause?! Why did the first Fedinch boy bale out?

Right next door mate, on the east side. You can see The Dukes here with the Feddinch layout (the brown area) next to it.

It may well be one course too far, who knows. Like I said, St. Andrews will always have golfing visitors so it has a chance but there are a lot of courses close by and St. Andrews will always be the pinnacle regardless of what's nearby.
With regards the previous owners, I think it was just finances tbh. It was at a time when the economy was falling. They blamed it on the weather and the ill health of the project manager but if you're building a golf course in Scotland, you know fine well what the weather is like so that's bulll****. 😂 The guys were locals and not golf course developers so it probably became too big a project for them. It was first planned in 2004 so it was on the go for a long long time. They took years to make a start and it felt to me like it was doomed to fail long before it did.

How many golf courses are there around St Andrews? More than half a dozen?

The two circled areas are where Dundee United train and the project.

Well The Links has 7 courses alone, then there's Kingsbarns, The Dukes & The Fairmont all within 5 miles or so.
