I have not been corrected previously, as mansfield, Barrow ( because they had 10 men ) , and Barnet ( a weak squad) were not key matches
The key matches were Macclesfield ( the loss that relegated us) , and Harragate ( the loss that made us stay in the National league)
As for saying Sam Allardyce did worse than Ardley, don,t make me laugh, Sam was and will always be so far ahead of Ardley in managerial terms, a comparison to Ardley, frankly is an insult
It is you pro Ardley supporters who have been corrected in that Ardley was the worst manager ever, why don,t you just admit it
"Ardley worst manager ever" is that just your opinion because you report it as if it's fact?

Davy where did you get your time machine from? You appear trapped in the past and unable to get past the relegation season! Just blame Ardley for accepting the job offer and jump on the Burchnall Bandwagon with the rest of us, I've got some sunglasses lined up for you when you do

One more thing if you are going to complain about people still praising NA it will make a lot more sense if you actually started the complaint by quoting a post that praises NA.

Big Ardley fan? Depends on what you consider to be a big Ardley fan. I don’t and wouldn’t blame Ardley for our relegation. Yes, he takes some responsibility. But, has discussed many times time before, there were many other things going on in the background which made his job a greater challenger. I also think that he did a better than average job last season. But, I do concede that the PO final was very disappointing. This season, although in a reasonable position in the league, flattered to deceive. We had more points than our performances warranted. In terms of change, I believe the owners made the right decision.

I have no issue with people disagreeing with any of the above. What I don’t like, this is what comes across in your posts, is the hate and bitterness. Whatever your opinion of Ardley’s management capabilities, I believe that during his tenure with Notts he tried his very best. I accept this was not good enough. But, NA doesn’t warrant the some of the comments aimed his way, my opinion.

Moving on to big games. You have suggested this before and other posters have highlighted flaws in this argument, myself included. I’m not for one minute suggesting NA won all big games. But to argue a PO semi is not a big game, regardless of opposition, is ridiculous.

NA, worst Notts manager ever? There’s an argument/stats the would suggest that’s correct. As I’m sure there are stats that would suggest otherwise. What’s missing, contexts.

Allardyce comparison? I’ve never made that comparison.

Maybe not the worst manager statistically but I've never been more disconnected to the team than under him. His blandness and caution first football was a disgrace with the resources he had his disposal. The caution first approach would have been understandable if he had a squad with little talent but since he's left it's been proved there's plenty of talented players and the lack of skill was all his.

He would probably do OK at Barrow. It might be acceptable for them given their resources to be set up to not lose, respect the point first and foremost and try and somehow fashion a win on few goalscoring chances.

This approach was totally unacceptable at Notts, even during our relegation season. We rarely played sides that had a larger paying budget than us throughout NA's tenure but you would not know this by watching the games. I really don't know why some Notts fans could not and still do not see this - it takes all sorts I suppose.

I notice Mark Cooper has now replaced Ardley as favourite.

All valid complaints it could be the biggest waste by a manager perhaps? But that is nothing close to "worst Notts manager of all time" suggestion and I'm not just talking statistically where he is nowhere the worse unless you only focus on the first 12 games as time traveller Davy does each and every time.

One of the issues for fans of a football league club that drop into the NL for the first time they have to adjust to the new world and many don't until 1 or 2 seasons have passed and they realise we are where we deserve to be. The manager in charge for that first full season is likely to be on a hiding to nothing from the off in some fans eyes because "we are only playing Barrow" "where's Eastleigh?" Or aren't "Harrogate only part time?"

Until you get past that attitude the manager will always be looked in an over critical way IMO especially when "he was in charge when we got relegated it's all his fault" is still thrown around on message boards.

Relegation always leaves a bitter taste.

Good for him if he's being offered jobs, but I'd be wary of this one if I was him...

Other posters have mentioned the remote location, but I'd also be wary of their trajectory...new FL club, start OK and then finish just above the relegation places...whatever formula that got them up, well since gone...does he need a season facing a relegation battle?

And wasn't his mistake not taking a long enough break after his 6 years at Wimbledon? Better jobs in the south might come along if he waits a bit. Or assistant's/youth role...didn't he used to do that at Cardiff?
