First round of cup isn’t until November so if there were a large number of entrants maybe we could eliminate those who haven’t entered any predictions for the previous 4 rounds before the fixtures are set. 4 rounds would allow for any holiday absences. That would stop any accusations of unfair match ups from opponents no shows.

pip_y, I see what your point but, I will be running the PL like all other leagues. If you fail to post on any given set of fixtures so be it. There will be no reduction for say missing out because of family commitments, holidays, even for illness like poor Nez Millers last season.

You either predict or simply miss out. I know this sounds unfair and someone may forget to post but the onus is on the participant not to forget, I should know as I forgot on at least 5 occasions to post in a a league I 'paid' to enter

Brin I didn’t mean the PL just the 1st rd of the cup as some might have an unfair advantage being drawn against someone who has stopped playing after a few weeks. 4 rounds before November seems a fair cut off point which would mean all those who have played a least in October. I fully understand your point about the PL.

Well 27 people have read this thread so I guess that's a good rough indication of initial interest and we usually get a 40-50% drop off during the season so expect only around 15 will make it to the end of a 46 week marathon.

The most we ever had join the PL was 62 back in the days when we predicted the actual scores and it took me and a pretty powerful Excel spreadsheet between 2-3 hours each week to calculate the results and table. Only around 30 made it to the end that season.

At the risk of upsetting Lol with my 'moaning', I've said it before Brin that I think you are asking a lot to expect people to turn up for 46 sets of fixtures without missing the odd one due to forgetfulness, illness, happenstance...etc. and I think setting a limit to the number of games played (e.g. 36 from a possible 46) would give people a chance to join late or miss weeks and still be in with a shout of lifting the imaginary trophy.
