We need players that can improve us on our budget where do we find them?I think they are out there but don't know where we have probably seen thousands of players that would improve us but most we cant afford others won't sign for us for one reason or another so we can either keep looking or just sign anyone to make up the numbers know what I prefer .

Yeah if they all have better players than us then they are being run better than us and are better teams than us have no arguement there teams with the best players are the best teams.Does not mean I am going to turn on utd I am hoping you are wrong and with our young guys and experienced players we are better than those teams you have mentioned that you think are better than us.You never mentioned that motherwell lost 17 players who were out of contract at the end of last season?

I dont think you can discount every player who has signed up with other teams. May turn out to be a few gem out there who will keep their team safe and get a big move elsewhere, which is essentially what our whole objective appears to be.

Yet another fear of mine is that the 9 are looking at the stats rather than the actual player and TC and friends are missing out on a player who could be improved.

I think any signing is too late to matter for this weekend, or even this month now, so i hope we do get 3 or 4 brought in soon enough, but nothing last minute please!

The teams outwith the Glasgow 2 are littered with good players who weren't bought for fees. Players that were brought in as a result of good scouting. Loads. Are you telling me that these teams can pay more than we can?

The reason none of these players turned up at Tannadice were a) we were in the Championship b ) many won't command a sell on fee c) they would keep a youth player out of the shop window

There's a reason we've extended contracts for many players who should be away. Can you not see it yet?

This is hard work mate. I'm not saying the teams I mentioned are "better than us" I'm saying they manage to recruit SOME excellent players. SOME in midfield.
So why can't WE? Simple as that really.
(Fuchs being the sole exception so far)

And I'm not turning on United, never have done since I started supporting the club.
Constructive criticism isn't turning on your club, it's wanting the best for your club. So please take that back.

If you accept mediocrity you'll get mediocrity every time.

They are so great they cant find us someone to play in midfield instead of Clark?
To be honest as have said before I leave it to the manager to decide who he wants to sign and play I am like you just a fan will go and support them what ever signings they make or don't even supported Ian philips who I never liked but I was lucky he had some great team mates.I don't know just like you don't know who is available to utd in their budget.I also don't know what deals are being done behind the scenes just now if it makes you feel better ripping utd a new one same as others fair play I just don't like it and probably should not look in here when getting home from pub as all I land up doing is arguing with people can ignore the negitivity when am sober but few pints and start standing up for my club so you just carry on.

Not sure what you mean regarding Reynolds, but my opinion is biased as i think he is the exact type of player we needed at the time, and if his contract lasts to the end of this season, he should be allowed to play that out and given a good send off! I also think Clark has something to give but only in a position that works for him!

I know Reynolds came to us on loan initially, but cant actually remember the contract lengths and renewals after that!

Well really if that is the reason you think utd don't want to sign players that would improve them because they will keep young guys out of the team and will not have sell on fee's could you explain the only two signings we have made? You really think utd don't want to improve so they can sell all the young guys they have in their youth team?I can't argue with that if it is really what you think.

Iain Phillip is a great example of a coach going back to his old club for a player he knew would fit perfectly into the side he was building.
Unfortunately our new manager doesn't have that luxury.

But Brian you need to get something straight, posters who you are debating with tonight love the club and there's a big difference between deep concern which is legitimate and turning on the club.

If you're happy that we're going into the first game of the season with the existing forward midfield options that's fine by me but it's also fine to want better.

And only 2 strikers btw, one of them is Clark.
