Good grief. Can't we just celebrate a British success? Well done Emma, a phenomenal run.
Her story is unbelievable Swale, one of the greatest British sporting stories of all time. I’m an actual tennis fan, and I never thought I’d see a women’s British grand slam winner. And the standard of both players last night was fantastic.
Do you not find the hypocrisy of some people, including those who’ve done so much damage to this country, a bit sickening though?
I am off to collect my winnings tomorrow from the bookies, had a grand on BFP being the one to bring politics into the thread. I managed to get evens which I thought was jolly decent of them![]()
They won’t pay up. I posted the front page of a national newspaper and the ramblings of a someone who I now believe is some sort of journalist. Apparently he convinced a lot of people to vote a certain way back in the day, but there’s not many who’ll admit to it.
I think you’ll find it’s other people who brought ‘politics’ into it.
After 5 years you are still trying to convince yourself you were right and all those gammon racists were wrong and they are all coming round to see how stupid there were.
“We must recover our legal sovereignty.
We should no longer be subject to rulings by the European court of Justice or the European court of Human rights”
Who recently said this BFP?

Nothing wrong with bringing politics into it. One difference between the two finalists is that one comes from a country that still welcomes immigrants; the other country has made it so much harder for the next overseas-born, potential tennis champ to one day compete for Britain.
I shed tears of joy several times last week watching Emma’s amazing story unfold - she’s a natural-born winner, some of which she credits to those Chinese roots on her mum’s side. I’m also ashamed that my country is no longer one that welcomes immigrants and denies their importance in our society (though the rotting produce, parked lorries and NHS vacancies may finally wake a few up). And yes, I’m the son of an Irish immigrant and proud of it.
Anyway, I look forward to cheering Emma on for many years to come and hopefully see her compete at Wimbledon some day.
