I don’t know, please share. I can’t recall him scoring a free kick this season and one last season? Possibly needed some coaching.

More so the young boys, I think! In a word, no. Salah isn't a better player than King Kenny. Harry Kane isn't better than Ian Rush. Trouble is you didn't watch them, so you don't know. Of course there are great players around now. Not so much in mid-table non-league, though.

Totally different game and comparisons are futile and people will never agree anyway. Lets just enjoy them for what they were and what they are

It is guesswork but if he’s hitting high volumes with little success keeping doing the same probably is going to end up in the same result. If a pro golfer hits 100 balls each day at the range for a couple of days and it’s not going right they aren’t going to keep hitting 100 for the next few days, they are probably to sit back, think what’s going wrong and then probably focus on just hitting a few and concentrate getting it right. I think it was encouragement in telling him to try a different approach for a bit, then he can revert back to more once he gets it right.

If he is hitting high volumes with little success, there must be a problem. I am just reading Gavin Peacock's autobiography and he writes about players who stayed behind after training, practising and practising.

We don't know the context of this though - perhaps IB just meant for that day.

That's guesswork

My general point is that you wouldn't tell a pro-golfer to take just 8 putts or a tennis player just 8 back-hands and call it a day. Pro-sports people need as much encouragement as possible to work on their games and to love putting the extra time in

IB made that suggestion to add pressure to the training. If you only take 8 free kicks, you need to get them right and it adds pressure. That was the entire point of the conversation
