Let’s face it it’s not the only time this has happened
Sponsors always get nervous when there is potential for scandal which their brand could be associated with

Also there could be lots more behind the scenes that we are not privileged to

I’m kinda torn, I agree that it’s harsh, but I also think the way that non white people have been dealt with is too, there was quite a good series of documentaries that sky did on this in cricket earlier in the year should be available on catchup
It’s the presumption of guilt I don’t like BS.

Presumption of innocence has gone out of the window for white people in higher profile positions.

I feel there’s old scores being settled with Vaughan.

Let’s see or hear the proof of what was said.

So far as his supposed comment is concerned, he’s supposed to have said......”there’s too many of you lot here” to an Asian group of players......a comment only heard by two of them.

I’ve had Spaniards say the same to me about us Brits when I’ve been on holiday over there.

I took it as a joke, it’s a pity that some people get so easily offended these days.

I should also point out that I do speak from personal experience as to what it feels like to be picked on for being “different”.

Moving from Yorkshire to the Black Country as a soon to be 6 year old was really stressful and having a broad Yorkshire accent and also being a fat kid made me stand out.

I suffered for years at infant and junior school at the hands of the school bullies until I got to senior school and started standing up for myself.

So in the interest of balance, I do understand what it feels like to suffer this abuse and I absolutely hate bullies.

Also Mick whether you are Indian or Pakistani it’s not the accuracy of the term that offends it’s the intent. Indians aren’t offended by the fact someone is mistaking them for a Pakistani, but by what the intent of being called Paki and the other words that come with it or are inferred

As for statute of limitations I do agree with you guys, if this fella was so upset he should have addressed it ages ago with the fella concerned or someone else. But I can understand why it’s difficult, but in that case get over it no point raising hell years later

As for Vaughn I’ve always liked him, but don’t know him obviously, but there are reports of him having said some unsavoury things and also aiming it at the fact that people were of a certain heritage and prioritising others
Now I don’t know if that happened, and to be honest it’s very easy to confuse patriotism with prejudice especially if you and others are confused with where you stand (E.g. am I Indian or British?)

Strange times, but what makes me laugh is how potential unfair treatment is easily spotted when the victim is similar to yourself

PS - Mick you can say what you want in your own house mate, just best not to say things that may cause offence when in public, can’t see why that’s an issue
You wouldn’t drive down the middle of a road and say well I feel like doing this so why can’t I?
Exactly as it may cause harm to someone right and there will be consequences for you.
I get offended if someone calls me a Brummie whether they mean it or not.😉

There is open racism against white people now; I read today that an investment bank has banned the recruitment of white staff unless specific authorisation is given and that all their departments must prioritise the hiring of female and ethnic staff. What a state the country is becoming.

Went into the post office in the next village to us. It's run be Asians. Wanted to post a parcel. The lady behind the counter asked me two questions. I couldn't understand her reply so I asked her to repeat them. Still couldn't understand what she said so I just said no. God knows what I said no to! Don't have a problem with Asians running the PO but I do object when you can't understand a word that is said.

I think you got it the answer "no" correct. I have it on good authority that she asked you if the Larkins is historically accurate.

To be fair a good majority of white people can’t string two sentences together and are as thick as pig s hit! David Beckham is the face of the World Cup and hopefully one day he will spend many of his millions on the art of public speaking! Wayne Rooney too is thicker than an Oak trees stump and only an old slapper can be on his wavelength😇

Hey up Mick, I thought this subject would interest you especially mate with your Yorkshire connections.
I know I/we all have got to be so much more careful now what we say and do of course. But this wider subject that we're covering here really frustrates and angers me as well if Im honest.

For example on the telly, remember in the mid 80s when uncle Albert said on an episode of Only Fools.. "P*aki shop won't let us have any credit!."
And Im convinced that absolutely nothing harmful was meant in a statement like that in those days, and Im sure nobody thought twice about it when it was said in the streets as well as on the telly. By the way, I don't know if that bit has been edited out now by the beeb.
And another example in the early 90s is when Rick Mayall said ".. thieving bas*ard gyppos!." on the show Bottom. That word has now been edited to 'yobbos' instead because some people must have taken offense.

But who made the complaints ehh in the first place, I bet it wasn't made by the people who it was supposed to be offending. And thats when these so called do-gooders get involved and they make the issues ten times worse by sticking their noses in.

    Anyway, rant over!!.
