Maybe Notts County Stats nice person can compile a list and send it to Brothers Reedtz. There seems to be at least one game a month like this. Awful.
Stop making extra work for me!

The only stat that should matter is whether we win or lose. There is too much emphasis on meaningless stats. We have all known for the last 3 seasons that we concede from set pieces and crosses into the box. Also, we have more possession than the opposition, but we still lose.. So whats the point..

Durhampie for president. NCFCog may not agree.

Not at all, each to their own QP. I enjoy playing around with data and stats, others don't. it's like the O/T or handbags threads, if you've no interest in them don't read them.

Data has its place and used in combination with experience of a sport / product is the way forward, however solely relying on data can lead you down a path that can give you a false impression, and ultimately (says again) 'you can have all the data in the world but if the end user isn't talented enough to adapt to what's being shown then you have no chance'.

Interesting point about the crosses and set pieces, do we still have the specialist coach on board?

Of course how many games a team wins, draws or loses is the most important stat. Nobody will argue that.

However surely having access to in-depth data and statistics can assist with improving the most key stat of all (Win percentage)?

I would imagine it helps identify areas of weakness, where a side needs to improve, identifies areas of strengths and things that work and bring rewards etc.

Football has moved on and evolved from the days of relying mainly on notes scribbled down in an A5 book by blokes who have been in football and scouting for decades and assistant managers taking a look at a player on a free Tuesday night at a local game.

Yes, Alex Clapham. He is the set piece coach, nothing to do with crosses. To be fair, Eastleigh set piece goal excluded, our record of both attacking and defending set pieces since he came on board has been pretty good. We've actually scored 5 goals from set pieces so far this season and 4 of those were corners. I remember a time when we couldn't even clear the first man from a corner never mind score from them.

Effectiveness from corners has been the most noticeable difference between this season and previous seasons for as long as I can remember.
