13 promotions in our history. You've been fortunate to witness our golden period and see 7 promotions in the past 60 years.

Let's not mention the relegations.

Yep, I've been fortunate to see us when we were good. You said "Like supporters of most clubs we have hardly been successful and had lots to celebrate in our club's history". That's not true in my case, because there was lots to celebrate in the first half of my 50 years support. We played mainly in the top two divisions and that alone counts as a success for a club like Notts. The last half has been a steady decline with the odd bright spot, but I've had loads of good times along the way.

As it stands we are nicely placed to kick on it can go either way a full on push for the top spot or at worst a play off place.

Correct, it could go either way. We are only 7 points off the automatic place, but if Wrexham, Stockport and Yeovil win their games in hand we drop down to 9th, so a playoff place is far from a certainty. One thing that gives me hope is that we haven't played any of the bottom four clubs yet, but knowing Notts we'll win at Grimsby and lose at Dover!

Wootton strikes me as a player that enjoys the role he has in the team and at the club.
If as you suggest he is being marked by 2 who in our team is free?
It’s funny because people moan about players being double marked, so by my count 6 opponents will be marking Woots, RR and Roberts. Which should leave more space for 3 players.
Wootton doesn’t play up front alone and will often have RR in support. I just wish we could get Roberts more involved centrally, rather than stood on a wing. Especially as our full backs are asked to get forward.
Given the way we play (suicidal passing at the back) we have plenty of opportunities for players in forward positions to be affective with cute movement. If we have RR, Roberts and Vinny moving between the lines, for me that will cause carnage as well as create space for Woots.

In theory it sounds that we are unbeatable, but it seldomly works out like that. We struggle to finish teams off when we go in front and always look like conceding...That to me is not causing carnage...

Yes as I said "our golden era" but unsurprisingly my earlier comment wasn't aimed solely at you it was a more universal statement.

If you are in your early 20s you have witnessed the Munto season only in terms of success. That's ya lot.

Early 30s the Munto season and the Big Sam title, so two genuinely enjoyable and undeniable great seasons (at the time).

Early 40s you are lucky enough to have seen back to back promotions under Warnock, visited the old Wembley multiple times and tasted top flight action for a season to add it the list.

If in your 50s/60s you've got the Sirrel success to rightly fondly remember and look back on.

If you are in your 70s its likely you can remember the 1960s that don't appear to be kind to NCFC supporters.

I feel for any Notts fans who didn't at least catch those magical seasons under Warnock and am envious of anyone who saw Sirrel at his very best.

Point being the future of this club, the younger fans, haven't known anything other than decline with 1 or 2 great seasons that's it. Maybe they are the ones who can adjust to NL far easier than the OAP aged fans who saw the glory days overachievement.

It's certainly not an upward trend, but it shows I started supporting at a good time. The average position over my support is 55th, or mid-table in League 1, which many of us see as our 'natural' position. I had a really good start in 1970, but I don't expect a happy ending.

I saw rubbish Notts teams in the 60s until Jimmy arrived, I then saw us climb from div. 4 to the now championship but didn't see the best years in the top league or any of our Wembley appearances. Started attending again in the mid 90s and watched ever since.
