It's certainly not an upward trend, but it shows I started supporting at a good time. The average position over my support is 55th, or mid-table in League 1, which many of us see as our 'natural' position. I had a really good start in 1970, but I don't expect a happy ending.

Hopefully Lawton's Bar is being refurbished rather than shut. I always drifted down there at half time, not to drink because I was driving but to catch up with the halftime scores on Skysports. I remember seeing Jimmy Sirrel in there a few times a while back, and when he ordered a coffee someone would usually say "do you want a whisky in that Jim?". His reply was always "Aye, go on then"!

He used to come in after the reserve game with his wife and have a drink and chat with us. He was a true gent..
