Have to say took ages (3-4 months) for me to feel myself again, and I still find it hard to breathe at times if exerting myself

I don’t know if it’s just age or what but my memory / thinking seems far more cloudy than before too, I seem to forget stuff I have noticed I need to take more detailed notes and re go through things when I never used to and had a pretty good memory. Also have no recollection of things that weren’t that long ago
I’ve got the mild symptoms but I’m dreading if this become that long covid i’m hearing about. 3-4 months BS seems a long time to be feel like yourself again and I hope I can avoid that. Good to hear that you’ve got back to some normality though. I want to say the memory/cloudy head is down to age? have you had this assessed in any way? that said it’s probably impossible with GPs not operating as usual. Hope things improve soon for you BS.

Had it late April last year, probably Delta, and before being vaccinated. Walk in the park to be honest, all the colds I have had and can remember have been worse, no loss of smell and taste. Worked from home all the time and was quite productive. The mrs had even milder symptoms than I had, two sons and girlfriends also got it - same for them. Took about 1 1/2-2 weeks for (the vague) symptoms to completely disappear. Could start exercising as normal directly.

This was also a health issue for me. Was out walking one day on a 5k route I use always run....I had to sit about three times JUST WALKING the route.
But the initial strain back in March 2020 was the Wuhan strain. The Alpha strain (Kent) was dealth with quickly by antibodies in Dec of 2020.
The strain about 6 Weeks ago...pretty sure was Delta strain.
Interesting thing about the last one was....I fecking new with all the kids going back to school and all the mammies working beside me in the ICU that it would prove problematic for me. Kids are lethal at spreading this...

Same here luckily we are managing to miss it.

The family in Perth, Oz of course terrified of getting it but as hardly any cases in WA since the pandemic started and borders, internal and external, still closed until at least February 5th, most unlikely to get any contact with it for a while at least.

What a surprise though our daughters, eldest grandson and the two of us are the only ones fully boosted and we are the only ones who have not had it or got it. The others are either only 2 injections, due to early complacency and not yet qualifying for the booster, or the kids one or none, due to age group timings.

That said as many on here keep telling us, the vaccination programme is just a waste of time and a big Government wheeze to line the pockets of a privileged few!!!

Whole family had it back at beginning of October following a family get together. 5 adults (ages ranging 40 -70), all double jabbed at time and 2 kids under 10. All had mild symptoms; in my case no worse than a light head cold; although my wife and one of my daughters have still lost their sense of smell. Step grandson has just had it for the second time - again no symptoms and he only found out because he had to test for work

Vaccinated or not, you can still get covid. I had my booster on the 21st dec, having had both my 1st and 2nd when given the opportunity yet i’ve got the mild symptoms of what so believe to be the omicron variant.
I think what you’re probably trying to point out to us is that the vaccine is aimed at reducing the severity and hospital admissions.

I’ll still remain skeptical of what’s going on and how it’s played out. Obviously i’m not an anti vaxxer.

Totally agree but I would say that the booster is a very good way of giving yourself the best chance of not getting it as well, certainly not 100% but the best chance.

I didn’t want to sound holier than thou but I do think that being sensible and taking as many precautions as you can are your best chance of not getting it. As an example we haven’t see our UK family since Boxing Day as my son in law was confirmed with Covid by PCR on 28th December and then the grandchildren on the 30th.

I know several people who continue with interacting with others who they know have Covid and indeed someone with Covid who still went out on New Years Eve having had Covid confirmed. His sister shamed him on Facebook, I understand but as I am not on it only have been told this to be the case. For me he is totally irresponsible but will he kill someone, probably not, but he doesn’t seem to be bothered either way.

We (me and ‘she who must be obeyed’) had it August time. We followed the rules 100% so really surprised. Fortunately we had had 2 jabs at that time and symptoms were not too bad.
Self isolated and daily contact from NHS…excellent care and attention.

The booster protects those especially over 50 and those vulnerable from getting seriously sick. The booster offers no more protection from picking up the virus than a person not jabbed.

As my consultant said - you can be careful but you have to live. I would rather take my chances and now overseas. Others would say Overseas! I would just rather have a life. Kids in schools with masks in classrooms - that’s not education and would probably learn more at home with good parents who actually talk with their kids and help to self educate them!

Whilst people should stay at home if infected - thousands upon thousands don’t know they have it - lateral flows are not even readily available and can be cheated to negative or positive anyway! If there’s no lateral flow - I think it would be unreasonable for any person to say at home if they have cold like symptoms ie sore throat! People have to live or work!

Simple - if anyone is worried then stay at home or wear a mask properly ie over your nose or not at all.

There are many people who would actually rather catch it if they are fit and healthy - better immunity than an artificial vaccine and a 90 day travel free certificate to travel overseas if not vaccinated plus not missing weddings and special occasions in the not too distant future. Madness - not at all as there’s logic in this but again only if young, fit and healthy.

There will be thousands of people who have the virus too who know they have it but hardly have any symptoms who are out and about! Is this selfish? Do people stay at home with flu or with really bad throat infections? No and some things can be equally as deadly!

Live for today as tomorrow may not come anyway.
