The rate we were going you guys would have ended up calling for a manager with experience in the cake stall line at the Fordwich Fair, as we battled it out for 400th place.

Thankfully we hardly ever lose these days, so threads like this are few and far between

On the flip side, the lower we fall the harder it gets to lose.

We know, we've all read it dozens and dozens of times. It's like you are trapped in the past, and that's all you can focus on.

    So let's look forward...

Why do you think we will barely scrape into the playoffs? Which season have we done that? Certainly not the last 3 playoff campaigns of which 2 were under the current owners stewardship. So that means you think we will get worse and worse under the current owners. Fair enough, noted.

You think we will finish in lower play offs, or not in the playoffs at all. Which? After the past two results well that's 2/3rds of the likely outcomes covered lol. Come on Davy, in the playoffs or out where do you think we will finish this season? Really simple question pick one.

As I've said many many times before it's easy for someone to say a manager won't get us promoted (it happens rarely at any football club) it's even easier to say told you we wouldn't win the title (happens even less) etc. Therefore it's also easy to say a manager was the wrong appointment and conveniently not suggest a realistic name (not withstanding the fact they may not want the job, may want too much money etc). Why some folk still can't grasp this concept or maybe more accurately don't wish to is beyond me.

You can't assume the alternatives would have resulted in more positive or negative results. It's guesswork. People always seem to feel that the player not chosen to start would have automatically produced a better performance than the one that was selected and is being criticised. Sadly it doesn't work like that, years of watching football tells you that. Often they are on the bench or in the stands for a very good reason.

    So playoff finish or not?
    Play off

Understandably it seems to be by far and away the most popular choice. Let's hope we finish higher up the playoffs so we can play at the Lane in front of a big vocal crowd.

At the end of this month, we should (hopefully) have a good indication as to where we may end up...

Have I missed something? I thought Davy thought Ardley was the worse manager Notts ever had? As I was shot down for defending him saying he was a very decent manager at this level which incidentally I think he’s proving again.
Also said earlier in the season we should have got Hurst to me (Grimsby were top) when we got Ardley, even though we wouldn’t have got him as his stock was pretty high then but since has overseen a relegation and also a collapse from being top of the league. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing and I’m sure whoever wins the league if it’s not us Davy will say we should have got them.

We were very nicely placed until the Barnet postponement and the last 2 away games.

Considering the pace of the top teams, there's likely to be a record points total for 4th, 5th and 7th places so we can't afford to slump for games on end. Win the 6 pointers as well and we can get back in the mix for the top three.

The poor away record is costing us and we can't rely on the home form to bail us out because there are many tough games ahead. We simply have to be better away. The problem there isn't the defence, we're always going to concede the odd goal on the road, set piece or not. The problem is the appalling slump in form of our strikers and creative players.
They've got to take responsibility for their performances and not expect the game just to come to them. IB must do his bit with a positive anti-respect-the-point approach but most of the responsibility falls on Woots, Rodders, Cal, Frank, Jayden and everyone who gets the shirt to prove that they are more than National League players. For too many games, that's looks exactly where they belong - but they know and we know that they can be more than that.

I too am confused about Davey. He was Ardleys biggest critic alongside myself and elite if I remember correctly. Now if he believes IB is not the answer then that's fair comment but to say that Ardley was actually the answer all along is scandalous!
Ps MM don't be fooled by Ardley ( the nearly man) his last couple of results were against bottom of the table inferior teams, when they play the top teams they get sweet FA... Rumour has it they have a top 4 budget which might explain why Arfley went there in the 1st place and how they signed Dallas and have now employed the service of Ellis...

The last couple of games may have been against bottom teams, but it's hard to argue that Solihull aren't 3 points above us (although we have 2 games in hand) and have scored more than us and conceded less (in more games). Oh to be a fly on the wall at Colin's funeral when Ardley was with Burchnall and Doyle!

Let's see in a few games time where we are. I don't think that with nearly half the season to go we should write ourselves off.

Well taking out the relegation and what he did at Wimbledon which would be the equivalent of getting us in the Championship and staying there, 2 decent attempts in the NL with us and another one now in my eyes makes him a decent manager, not the best but certainly not the worse. If he has top 4 budget then we must be below that then?
I’m sure if Davy supported Man City Pep would be getting it too, not won the champions league, should have got Klopp.
