Why does the forum stop people editing past posts I guess is a pertinent question. It creates an imbalance if some people don't worry about what they post because they're matey with the mods and know they can change the historical record at any time. Others don't operate like that so you effectively create a two tier board.

I think its an important question - because it means how can we know if things haven't been changed over time when it's embarrassing to someone who is matey with a mod? I'm questioning whether it goes on a lot more than I realise and whether it's affected any discussions I've been involved in. Do you see my concern?

The restrictions have been introduced for a reason. There needs to at least be guarantees of transparency.

Brin's original post was spot on. Nothing wrong with it. We had the usual cycle of posting from the usual suspect. It's very strange behaviour.

I've noticed edited posts hours after the event (I can't do that) and I really don't get why any post should be deleted. If it's totally out of order ban the contributor and if it's inappropriate or illegal report the individual/s.

I don't really welcome a couple of random blokes thinking it's right to edit things I post. Close the threads if you want but leave the evidence up.

Not sen either of Brin's or Howdy's posts so can't really comment on them. My own view is that ANY opinion, yes including mine, should have evidence to support it and this should be encouraged by Mods where ever possible. I am happy to abide by that and I would imagine most mmadsters woud as well.

Basically if you cant back up what you are saying dont say it or at least be prepared to be challenged. I dont think that is unreasonable.

I did have a long chat with Brin yesterday and I get on fine with him and always have as a mmadster for many years. I have said this a milllion times on here (Evidence?) just because posters may disagree on some aspects of politics doesnt mean they do not have lots of things in common in other ways. If I was to fall out every time our lass and me disagree about owt i wunt have been married more than a few months.

The one thing we ALL have in common is our love for the millers and one thing that does bond us. If nowt else focus on that.

I have no grudges with anyone on here, people are entitled to their opinion but so am I. All I ask is just bak opinion up with evidence. I will try myself to be fair.

With regard to John 2, what ever any one thinks of his views, nobody can deny that he tends to back up his views with a lot of evidence.
I'm not saying anybodys evidence can't be countered as longas that is evidence based as well.

I'm hoping the club just get a ' slap on the wrist ' and a written warning to future conduct of a minority of fans.
Been told the lad concerned is 21, arrested for assault, released pending further enquiries.
He's had his few minutes of notoriety, it's gone viral what he did.

Don't forget we're not the only club with ' problem fans ' unfortunately we're once again in the news for the wrong reasons.

Brin, I'm willing to challenge any post on here I disagree with, I apologise if you've ever taken it disrespectfully, but that's never my intention.

In almost 18 years posting on MillersMad it has never once occurred to me to ask a mod to change one of my old posts when the time for me to do so runs out. I feel like we all have the same access to editing, but maybe you have more regret after things you post.

My issue here isn't really with your changing your own post, which I acknowledge your prerogative to do. It's that YOU DELETED MINE, without any explanation.

And then when I asked if you had deleted it you ignored me. That left me confused as to where my post had gone because I'm not psychic. As moderator you should be more transparent.

It's bizarre you're getting on your high horse here - it's you who deleted my post.

I didn't think your post was at all offensive, just bizarre, no wonder Roly laughed. That's why I think it's odd the approach you took to censor every mention of it. Brin jong-il. If that's the bar for keeping the board respectable we'd barely have any posts left.

John, I'll keep it simple. I deleted my post because on reflection, what I put wasn't called for. I deleted your post because it carried the copy of what I said on mine. It would have been rather stupid to remove mine yet leave yours on if I left my statement attached. Yes, I do fully understand what you're trying to say and likewise hope you too understand why I removed yours. Let's move on.
