I thought the interviewer was harder to understand than the manager at times. Until the end when their man got frantic in search of a finish

"Totally dominant in the second half", he says - only if you missed the first 20 minutes of it.

I think yesterday highlights how difficult it is to please football fans. We have been criticised for controlling games but missing lots of chances, even when going on to win the game. Yesterday was the opposite, apart from the winning the game bit, and lo and behold we still got criticised for being lucky, after a determined, backs to the wall display with a still ailing team.

For those there, the Notts fan "slapper" who the away fans were chanting about managed to identify herself on Twitter. Sounds like she took it in good humour.

Also enjoyed our chant about the novelty of being in the lead away from home.

Good to hear. From reading the reports on here it seems like it had the hallmarks of what is required to get a win away from home.

So that's six wins away against Barnet, Yeovil, Grimsby, Kings Lynn, Woking and now Dagenham.

With Southend, Aldershot, Torquay, Dover and Maidenhead left to play on the road we should be targeting wins against Dover, Maidenhead and Aldershot. Those three sides are truly awful at the moment with none having won a game in the last five so it's an excellent opportunity at the business end of the season to build some momentum and push for that 5th place play-off spot.

Can you point me to it. Obviously didn't go and I try with Twitter and usually fail.

We kept the ball out of the net and won, which matters far more than what it looks like.

I don't think many fans are advocating long-ball kick and rush or just booting it anywhere in the last ten minutes, but neither do they want to see us inviting pressure in the wrong areas by trying to play it out from our own six yard box when the opposition have everyone up searching for an equaliser. There's nothing wrong with playing your football and keeping possession in their half, but what we can't afford to do is drop deeper and deeper and invite the opposition forward.

Sorry, I meant the home fans were chanting about. Well it felt like a home game in atmosphere despite the tiny pitch!

    Bit sweary

I think it's good to hit the ball up over the top when the opposition are pressing very high, but if there's nobody chasing it it just ends up being recycled into another attack - as happened repeatedly in the last 20. I did think our players looked too knackered to keep chasing, though. Still, it would have been more effective with just a little more chasing, if anyone had that in them, as it would have meant they likely keep a player or two back to cover.

It does sound like some fans love to advocate for "booting it anywhere" though, at least in the moment. In this league I still think it's better to invite pressure with the ball than without it.

    Interesting comment from their board:

I liked the way Notts County play though, the goal keeper continuously bowled the ball to his centre back in the middle of the pitch who was left to run forward for him to pass the ball to a team mate, so they are already half way up the field and still have posession, unlike our team where we hoof it out creating only a 50-50 chance of keeping possession, there passing was so much better than ours, their players run well off the ball creating space for the pass, these are the lessons that we need to learn to improve our chances against better sides

    These comments as well:

''Sorry Arnu, what game was you watching today?
For the first and last 10 minutes, we were arguably the better team but for the 70 minutes in between County bossed the game.
Same old, same old today. We weren't good enough, not necessarily the defence at thought but I have to say where was the midfield. County controlled the game in large parts, whilst our midfield went asleep. That's where we lost it''.

''Thought County completely bossed the first half once they'd recovered from going one down and they were on top when they scored the winner. I don't think the defence were to blame, we lost the game in midfield. Arter was controlling the play until he departed. Seemed like we only started playing again once we went behind and had the chances to equalise, but another one of those days''..
