Lets be fair , we have rode our look releally , weve had chance after chance to improve , we arent a big club who can pay for top players , and i wouldnt want us to be , you pay for what you get and take the gamble , if thats what you desire , top wages dont mean top players , a mixture of youth and seasoned Pro's is my view on how it should be, and some progression up the leagues ?, somehow a Burger King fanatic knows it all , and leaves us ???? Who knows where 😈

The remit Roma should be to build the best team we can afford irrespective of anything else .

An example we should know only too well given it gave us our greatest season ever , Wilko , Hendrie , Thompson , Shirtcliffe were all older players .

Watson , Eaden , Moses and Liddell home grown young lads .

Overseas , Marcelle , Jovo and De Zeauw .

Bullock and Shez from non league .

Redders the time served glue .

This thing isn't rocket science it really isn't .

Whilst nobody would expect that to happen again the principles behind the recruitment back then still stand today .

Whats even more disgusting about it, is Conway & co probably aren't even footy fans in general, are they ?.
So thats why it gives us the impression that they don't know, and simply don't care. Despite owning how many clubs!.
Yet they think they can keep on doing what they are doing under the so called 'model', and everything will be alright.
Asbaghi will be sacked and they will go down the pathetic cheap European market again, because they think they know best.
I agree with Patrick's comments when he said we can't keep relying on financial handouts from an owner, we must look after ourselves and become more self-sustainable.
Heck even Peter Doyle used to say that when he saved us, and he was right, but he got rollocked by everybody. 😵

Aww come on, I thought he was uncle Baarnsley and that everybody loved him in the taarn. 😇
No seriously, Ive heard how unpopular he was!. But I think I remember at the time in Nov '02 that he told us fans that he'd more or less single handedly saved us. But he also went onto say that his pocket wasn't a bottomless one, and that he din't need the abuse he was getting etc.
So he couldn't wait to sell up when he did, to the American 5 minute wonder kid Sean Lewis.

As I said earlier in this thread the model really needed the big sale to give it legs and that's never happened .

All that's happened is the sales paid the bills up to a certain point in time and because of the wastage , covid and the collapse of the transfer market plus the season we've just experienced its completely shot .

Any money raised this summer won't cover the clubs liabilities .

The smart thing to do as far as the ownership are concerned would be to simply sell the club for a £1 and the new ownership take on the liabilities in my opinion .

If they don't then the liabilities are likely to grow , revenue streams extremely low with none of very little saleable assets on the field .

The liabilities are higher than the club is actually worth , it doesn't own it's own stadium or training facilities , there's little cash left in the business and the players aren't worth shyte plus the Supporters are walking away in droves .

It's pretty much over for the ownership here in my opinion .

The only question remaining is to hope someone will take this on and at least keep the business viable .

We are pretty much in 2002 territory here in my opinion and whilst new ownership is welcome they are going to need time to fix this if they fix it at all because there's no guarantees .

As pointed out earlier by Roma , Doyle didn't fix it he actually made it worse in 2002 .

All things need to be put on the table here because things are going to be rocky in my opinion even with new ownership .

As much as I want this lot art, it doesn't necessarily mean that the next lot are gonna be any better does it. It's almost at stage weer am finished wi football. Game's gone sour. It's money orientated shyte nowadays and it's even crept into non league with the rise of Salford and Fleetwood type of clubs in recent years.
