I do know someone who, having lost his job as a result of the pandemic has shown the guts and determination to set up in business himself. He tells me that taking on an accountant has been enormously beneficial to the task of setting himself up. He also tells me that he has been amazed at some of the things he has been allowed to claim for.

Successive governments of all colours the world over have devised taxation rules ranging from the complex to the bamboozling, and I'm sure your sense of social justice would demand that there is a Robin Hood type ensuring that the 'hard-earned of your friend and an army of similar hard working but financially innocent plebs stay in their pockets rather than being trousered by the taxman. As you say, Swale...we, none of us, know all the ‘ins and outs’ and I don’t have the expertise of you, GP or AF in this area.
I am however disappointed that, strictly in relation to DCFC, we appeared to be in a position five months ago to do business with CK.
I don’t know what’s happened since then apart from a collection of dead ends, false dawns, missed opportunities and terminated contracts that have cost us (DCFC) a great deal.
Now we appear to be on the brink of doing a deal with CK again, as we were before Christmas. I’m not sure who’s benefited from that huge hiatus apart from Quantuma. I may be wrong but I’m fairly sure it’s not DCFC.

Well perhaps nobody has, but there again we don't know why CK pulled out, did he not offer enough and decide to go after Preston on the basis it offered better value? Who knows, IF CK's bid had been acceptable I'm fairly certain Quantuma would have accepted it. Perhaps they were going to and he just pulled out?

Perhaps they couldn't get the creditors to agree and now this time CK is actually the best deal after others have shown their hand?

Yes it would have been better if a deal to buy the club could have been done 5 months ago, but one must presume that the Administrators didn't fail to do this on purpose!

No worries. Most of us are sadly all too aware of what the future may hold and just really want to see the takeover sorted ASAP.
If you read this forum you’ll recognise that most of us recognise that it’s a while since we constituted any sort of example of ‘how the mighty are fallen’ but there’s no shortage of others...look at Boris Becker yesterday!
Hopefully he won’t be the only ‘Boris’ to get his comeuppance before much longer and maybe Derby and your lot at Barnsley will be fighting it our to return to the Championship this time next year.
