I’d rather we stayed away from him to be honest

    No idea Gump.

I know that Danish guy left his job last week so are bookies putting 2+2 together and getting 4 or 5 as he is the favourite or was at 2/1 ?

A young U23 coach at a higher level club in the similar mould to IB seems a reasonable suggestion. Substitute Andy Reid with another name without a Forest connection and immediately there would be more patience and more of a reception amongst some of our fan base. A former Forest player is always going to be a red flag (pardon the pun) for some fans.

On the positive side immediately the relationship with Forest would be strengthened and it would provide an avenue for their good up and coming prospects. So both clubs benefit. We would only need two really good ones a season to come on loan like when we had Yates and Grant.

I mentioned on another thread about a coach with previous experience with the England youth set up would be a good avenue to explore.

Being simple I think we need to find a lower level equivalent of Steve Cooper. Steve Cooper is 42 but did not really have much of a senior playing career having made just under 60 appearances at Bangor City. What he does have is ten years youth coaching experience at Wrexham before spending five years at Liverpool youth before being England U16, U17 coach for another five years before getting his first managerial job at Swansea.

So someone under 45, lot's of coaching experience playing football the right way, preferably had a year or two as head coach of a National League/LG2/LG1 team.

As we saw with IB, the assistant manager is also important. On paper, Mo Ross seemed ideal - good pro career, some managerial experience, a bit of steel - but we only seemed to get anywhere in 2021 once he was sacked.

From the outside, I was also underwhelmed by Doyle as an assistant - seemed a bit of a yes-man in the training footage we saw and didn't provide a particularly strong voice. Only IB and the players/staff will really know what he contributed, though.

And then there's Greg Abbott, who didn't seem to offer much in either of his spells at the club.

Steve Cooper is only 42! Blimey I honestly thought he was older than that.
I think k a point we are overlooking is that we are not looking for a manager, we are looking for a Coach.
The responsibilities would be a bit different to when NA was in charge.
Reid would tick many boxes for the brothers but not for many supporters.
The supporters would want a Paul Hurst type who has been there and done it at this level, but we are not going to get that I think .
I'd rather have Andy Reid rather than Stuart Pearce if we were to have an ex Red.

Im aware we are after a coach not a manager I prefer someone with first team experience elsewhere.

Reid does have pros to him but he also has cons too.

I'd 100% stay well clear of him and I think we will do.

Williamson is an interesting one as well whether he would leave is another thing he has been up Newcastle way for 10 years now.

Nolan and Reid cut from the same cloth in terms of their choice of beverage and wouldn't want him near the club.
