You had your choice of predators, you could have gone with hyena, wolf or vulture but you chose lion...

No, because we seem to be in agreement here. My real point is that if we cherry pick our lowest points as a comparison, it's easy to say we are in a really good place now. That place is as a National League club, which will always be a big disappointment to me.

    What do mice eat?

If you believe what you see in cartoons, you would think that mice eat cheese. Actually, they like to eat fruits, seeds and grains. They are omnivorous, which means they eat both plants and meat, and the common house mice will eat just about anything it can find. In fact, if food is scarce, mice will even eat each other.

Mice have voracious appetites. They eat around 15 to 20 times per day, so they build their homes nearby places that have readily accessible food sources.

There you go, relevant bit in bold.

Relevant bit in bold noted. So if we eat each other, only one of us will be left at the end.

    I think you've just explained the #mission!

Under Derry it was a different level and - in truth - different objectives, to stay in the league or mid-table at best, long enough for somebody to make Trrew a decent offer, though they wouldn't have admitted that at the time. With that in mind I'm really not up for making serious comparisons between the previous transfer panel and the current one other than to say Derry wasn't happy with the interference and so he probably wouldn't be an obvious match for what we have now.

It doesn't have to be about spending more, it could be about them being more flexible or directing a bigger slice of the budget towards a decent manager. Under pressure they might be more inclined to do that.
For me there is a difference between interference and a club identity and working within that framework. I and others have been saying it on here for years that we lacked an identity. It now appears the club knows what it wants and how we want to play. In the past the club identity was based on who the manager was at the time. If they left then the whole house of cards would come crashing down and we would go in a completely different direction. This led to a revolving cycle of bloated squads and players that didn’t fit the new managers style.

The revolving entrance door to Meadow Lane was forever spinning. With some players we would be lucky if they had three games yet alone three years like Wootton has just achieved. The same with others like JOB and Brindley. We will remember them unlike many before this century. We kept saying on here (and I did) that we could not build a rapport with players because they were never here long enough to remember their names. Nobody ever lasted more than two seasons max, and most went downwards after leaving.

With the Derry and recruitment panel situation my interpretation is that it was a difference of opinions in terms of types of players and or style? I don’t know. With Moniz and Branston it seems that Moniz was more interested in attack and Branston defence. In other words clashes and people wanting different things?

The difference now is I would like to think the head coach and recruitment team all want the same type of players and same thing so are aligned. If you are a club playing an expansive game, or any style you need a head coach who buys into that philosophy so you either approach or only invite those types who apply to an interview for the job. It becomes seamless when a manager or coach leaves as ultimately no one man is bigger than the club identity. So the club doesn’t have to rip it all up and start again every-time a manager leaves. For me it’s not a bad thing or negative to have a club identity and only want coaches that fit that criteria.

" I've tried largely to keep away from these issues" if you typed this without smiling, laughing or with tongue firmly in cheek then you've done really really well Elite lol

Once again we've gone off subject, away from Notts and that ladies and gents is the common denominator. Thankfully I believe NCMs one and only moderator realises this. Tbh it's hard to ignore.

Like night follows day Elite and Gump will in tandem insert themselves into any disagreement on NCM#viva

If Elite really cared about Navy, you would have said something on any one of the dozen us threads where he lost his sh!t and attacked everyone in site. Or said something in private to help him out instead you said nothing, you did nothing, instead you stayed as quiet as a mouse#standard.

As for this Kelsdyke I hear he's banned for something he said so won't comment. I hope he gets better soon.

All this non-Notts talk really should be in the handbags thread (RIP) but you know that already

It's all old news nowt to do with the whole point of NCM but each to your own

Back to the thread..... Notts next manager... Exciting times

I’ve taken a bit of a back seat to see if it was just me and you. It’s very clear it’s not, but it’s always you involved whenever a ban is mentioned. You can’t deny that.

I just bought hope the moderator is a bit brighter than you think he is.

I've never been banned, haven't been closed to being banned. I can't be responsible for others

If you want a refresher just look at the latest handbag thread, and the original handbag thread and see which person has posted the most on them? There's ya clue#mirror

"Keep away from these issues" or more accurately insert yourself into them lol.

If you and others kept it to all about Notts on a website called Notts County Mad (there's the clue) I'm sure you would be amazed what would happen.

Maybe give it a go chap
